You play as a Big Daddy and you can use a plasmid and a weapon simultaneously.
You already did play as a $!BIG DADDY!$ in Bioshock.

Remember the last level.
Correction, you were in a big daddy suit. That does not make you a big daddy.
Yes it does. You went through all the physical modifications that the other daddies did.
You did not have the drill, you did not have the gun , you could have the prosess undone later. But more importantly, your arms were normal.
You were physically linked to the suit, and had your voice permanently altered to the big Daddy frequencies.
You had a used suit, and the suits can only be used properly once. Again: you did not have the drill, you did not have the gun , you could have the prosess undone later. But more importantly, your arms were normal.

Also you had the ablity to do more than protect little sistors and were normal (Normal footsteps and vision) during the final fight.
No, you could not have the voice processing reversed later... whether or not you were actually a big daddy is a moot point at this stage but according to Tenenbaum you were,as far as I can remember. It would be beyond geeky for us to continue arguing over it though... let's just agree to differ.

I would love to see how ridiculous your character actually looked running around in a big daddy suit with his skinny arms poking out :D

I really enjoyed the first Bioshock, so much that I'm considering playing through it a second time (which I almost never do). As long as 2K doesn't majorly mess it up I'll probably be buying the sequel launch day.

Its a matter of fact, unless you can prove to me that the entire prosess in everlasting then you did not becone a big daddy in Bioshock.

It looks awful. The information revealed so far is completely disastrous and is the sign of a developer desperately attempting to inject new life into a story and a world that ended entirely in the first game. The problem is that a sequel to BioShock is not necessary, or even feasible. Every design choice, plot point, etc. will wind up contrived and awkward because the game really has nowhere left to go.

Hey you're the one saying I'm wrong and are then unable to back up what you said. If all you're going to do is attack me and ignore what I say then don't respond.

Dude calm down, I wasn't attacking you... I simply voiced an opinion that differed from yours and as neither of us had a definitive argument to prove our point i suggested we stop arguing over it.

I never got that far. Thanks for spoiling it.

On Topic: From what I have played of the first Bioshock, this could be very good. It could also be a spunk sandwich. I'm not really that interested.

You were NOT a Big Daddy in essence as none of the psychological indoctrination occurred. You had your own goals and were not slaves to the Little Sisters. It would have been impossible to actually become one without changing the thought processes of the gamer themselves, something the ESRB probably frown upon.

Whether you were physically a Big Daddy is open to debate but if you don't have the mental aspect to it then you can't be one.

Here is my problem, not that you said I was wrong. Well ok, a little bit of it is because you said I was wrong and this is a matter of facts, one of us is right here. I gave quite a few points as to why I thought what I did, you gave a shakey memory. I might be coming off as harsh here so to be clear I'm not angery or anything of the like.

Now I'll repeat myself, are you going to try and back up what you said at the start, or are we done here?

I think the question is 'what constitiutes being a big daddy'?

According to you, you need the arms. According to me, you don't. It's a difference of opinion. Some situations have no wrong or right, they exist in shades of grey.

That is all, now can we leave it, please...

I'm curious about Bioshock 2 cause how are they continue the story of Bioshock? The only way they could continue the story is if they took the bad ending and elaborated on that because the good ending pretty much gives closure. So bring it on and lets see what you have up your sleeves 2K...oh and see if you can't work in some multiplayer, i would love to stick bees up someone's ass.

This will be hit or miss just like the first one. The orig took the fps world by surprise and shoved a 3 ft drill bit right up its barnacle arse. Its success did have a lil bit of luck to do with it. It was just one of those "magic" games that's going to be pretty hard to recreate the second time around. But I'll bite.

I am hoping for the best and expecting it to be a big steaming pile. Too bad the rhino was debunked. I was really looking forward to that battle.

You weren't really a big daddy, you were dressed up as one without the biomodification. Your voice box was perminantly altered, and you had the suit, but you lacked gloves for the suit. You'll notice big daddies are -HUGE-, much bigger then you. You didn't go through all the process's, you just dressed up like one and put on some cologne and...violently replaced your voicebox(?) to pass as one for the mentally conditioned little sisters who OH MY GOD DID THEY NOT DIE LIKE FLIES?! Don't walk infront of the grenade turrent damnit you little *****! And stop repeating the same lines over and over while you stab a corpse with a needle repeatedly, needlessly!

Jup, "full" Big Daddies also soaked themselfs in plasmids, were massively genetically altered and they were sealed in the suit e.a a Big Daddy is a suit with organs and bones. Also, don't forget that real Big Daddies are mindless bodyguards with only one goal in mind; protect the Little Sisters, wich is probably part of the genetic alteration. You didn't do all those things, you just put on the suit, pheromones and altered your voice (implanted a thing in your vocal cords, or altered your vocal cords). You become nowhere near a full Big Daddy, but you gain the correct abilities to 'command' Little Sisters.

Anyway, about Bioshock 2, I'm not sure how a real, full Big Daddy can become an interesting enough main character. Ok, you're the first prototype Big Daddy (you can splice, for example) so I wonder how close you really are to a Rosie or a Bouncer, but still. I'm still looking forward to it though, I wonder what you can do with that drill...*grins* [Homer Simpson] Hmmmmm, finishing moves...*drools* [/Homer Simpson]

It's a game that I am uneasy about. I like the idea of another Bioshock game but question if the sequel will live up to it. I've read the article but I just don't know. It's by a different team and Ken Levine is only loosely involed. It's just too early to tell.

The game will be based off the good ending, or at least thats what it says in the article. They also said there would be multiplayer but that's all they would say.

I don't fully understand the logistics of the story either. Apparently one of the original little sisters returns to Rapture about ten years later and turns herself into the Big Sister (the creature on the magazine cover) and then kidnaps little girls from the coast to make them into new little sisters. How she got them all to Rapture and turned them into little sisters (aren't the slugs they implanted them with all gone?), I have no clue whatsoever.
