What has me on edge here is that the sequel sounds very different from the original. Which is often a good sign because that way it won't be a rehash and it will be a true honest-to-God good game on its own.

I really have not got a clue why the details Gameinformer released were so criticised by so many. These guys aren't idiots, they know that BioShock was a success largely thanks to its interesting characters, fascinating setting and thrilling plot. They are not going to give up on all that.

I for one am thrilled about the details released. More atmosphere, more customisable plasmids and the ability to turn Vita-Chamberes off :D. Really, the hoax details of Soviets and Giant Squids were simply ludicrous. Of the entire list shown only two things that are confirmed fallacies seemed interesting; the spliced dogs and the underwater exploration. The rest was, in my opinion, completely against what BioShock is about.

To calm down a bit, I look forward to this games release. It will be very hard to match what the first BioShock achieved, but I remain optimistic.

I'm curious about Bioshock 2 cause how are they continue the story of Bioshock? The only way they could continue the story is if they took the bad ending and elaborated on that because the good ending pretty much gives closure. So bring it on and lets see what you have up your sleeves 2K...oh and see if you can't work in some multiplayer, i would love to stick bees up someone's ass.
I actually have to disagree, because I almost feel like the article suggests that the story is following the "good" ending more strongly: one of the girls is disillusioned with life on the mainland, returns to Rapture and starts kidnapping girls to be Little Sisters, while she becomes Big Sister. If memory (and Youtube) serves me right, in the bad ending, you and the Splicers conquer the world, so why would there be any reason to go back to Rapture?

I really enjoyed the first Bioshock, so much that I'm considering playing through it a second time (which I almost never do). As long as 2K doesn't majorly mess it up I'll probably be buying the sequel launch day.
I agree, Bioshock was so enjoyable that I played it again (which I almost never do). Unlike some other games I have played on the 360,It was enjoyable the secound time. As long as 2K doesn't mess it up the game, I'll probably be buying the sequel on its launch day.

I'm thoroughly looking forward to BS2 as the original was my favourite game of all time. The fact that the original team is not involved concerns me though. I loved the first one because it haunted my soul in the same way, say, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining did. I don't know if they'll be able to recapture that atmosphere.

Sorry if someone's made this point already in this thread, but I didn't want to read through in case of spoilers.

I always like to think the best of people and be optimistic, so I'll say that the first one was a nice concept with some good scary moments that they failed to back up with consistently good gameplay - hopefully they can keep the good story shit coming and tighten up the gameplay. My worry is that it's being released reasonably soon after the last one. They should give themselves more time.

The idea of playing as a Big Daddy, at least how they were in the first one, sounds like it would suck balls for an FPS. Playing a hack n' slash like Dynasty Warriors from a third person perspective, slashing and stabbing with your drill, and sweeping hordes of splicers aside. That I would want to know more about.

I'm looking forward to it, but the multiplayer is a bit of a turn off. Deathmatches seem too brainless to be included in a Bioshock game, and there are always the annoying online achievements which require hours of being trash talked to get.

Let's hope they focus on the single-player story rather than making multi-player its centre-piece.

Good point but still you die of old age in the good ending and all the little sisters found love and what not so i'm just having trouble seeing it progress from the good ending, but we'll see when the game comes out.

I enjoyed the first Bioshock so I am hoping the second one is just as good but I don't know what to make of the fact that you play as a big daddy and there is an evil big sister :S lets not forget death isn't what happens in Rapture not if you have the right key e.e

Bioshock was great and if the developers can keep their magic working the sequel will be amazing.

I am definitely looking forward to this sequel.. But there is a large chance that ot might be terrible, or just.. not live up to Bioshock.

I'm eagerly awaiting it. But i have my reservations it will be as good as the first. Sure graphics will probably (maybe) be better. I'm just afraid they're going to be stretching when trying to justify the story of 2.

Seems pretty crap to me, never played the original, but most of my mates did, and they won't shut up about it, so I pretty much know what it's about.

The sequel seems alot like FEAR2 was compared to FEAR, FEAR was an allright horror game that had the little kid Alma scare the shit out of you at well-valid moments, together with an allright story, whereas FEAR2 is more like OH LOOK ALMA OVER THERE!! Screamed at your face a dozen times.

Where BioShock had the Big Daddies as an integral plot element, BioShock2 seems to be all "OH LOOK BIG DADDIES, YOU CAN EVEN PLAY AS ONE, WOW!!!"

You play as a Big Daddy and you can use a plasmid and a weapon simultaneously.
You already did play as a $!BIG DADDY!$ in Bioshock.

Remember the last level.
You never really got to "Play" as a Big Daddy. You were in the suit, but you had no extra weapons or features. You were an impersonator, and not the real deal.

I voted for the bollocks thing. I don't like Bioshock and since 2 will probably be just more of 1 I probably won't like that too.

Funny story: I beat Bioshock at 10 PM yesterday. I have had it for a while now...

Either way: Loved the original, anticipating the sequel.
