I'm just curious to see how the rest of you feel about Bioshock Infinite. Basically every single reviewing site I've been to have been all over it, but I want to see what the playerbase thinks. So, you guys excited or not, and why? Liking the looks of the Skylines? Think the tear mechanic will work? Is Infinite just going to be Bioshock set in the sky? Let's hear what you have to say on the subject.

I'm one of the rare people who didn't like Bioshock all that much. The story was good but in the end I just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters, the gameplay mechanics of shooting and health management felt extremely clunky and the Vita Chambers took all of the tension out of the combat (though thinking about it those last two may cancel each other out; the Vita Chambers took away the rage of being killed thanks to poor mechanics).

The complaint about the characters may just have been how I was feeling at the time, but before I get exited about the new features in Infinate I'm going to wait for more reviews and gameplay videos to see if they've changed the basic mechanics before seriously thinking about buying it.

Liked bioshock one and two, but infinite just looks so good, definitely getting it when it comes out.

I loved Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite looks awesome so yea I'm pretty excited. But I really wish they'd stop advertising so much. It comes out next year and I'm going to get burnt out.

Can't wait for it. Didn't like BioShock (although I started playing again the other day, and so far I'm enjoying it - although I'm only about an hour in) but this does look fantastic.

Definitely not just BioShock in the sky.

It's going to be the most unintentionally hilarious shooter I've ever laid eyes on. :D It'll be like a train wreck. Filled with clowns!

Sadly, the same thing I think when I see a new fps.

"Eh."

Setting could be interesting but I doubt it will be taken advantage of, aside from one or two initial "Look you're in the Sky/Space/Underwater/Hell" moments.

I'm really excited for Bioshock Infinite. The 10-minute gameplay demo evoked fond memories of Bioshock 1, my second favorite game of all time, and I'm interested to see what new things that they can bring to the table to make the experience feel fresh and new again.

I thoroughly enjoyed BioShock, hell I even liked BioShock 2, but this is not BioShock from what I've seen. That said, I'm still very interested in this game. It looks pretty damn cool, but I'm not on "day one" level yet.

I'm hoping not. Although I loved Bioshock, I would like for developers to start trying new things and stop rehashing the old.

What are people's opinions on the tears? My first thoughts upon hearing about them was Singularity, with all the phasing and using the TMD to make things older or younger, but it seems as if they're going one step further. I'm curious to see how that turns out.

First impressions have been good to me, and it looks like they're going to switch up the mechanics again for the second third Bioshock game.

I should also note that I enjoyed the second one (not that it was a proper sequel, but more of a Bioshock 1.7). The switch up between being soft and fleshy and now being a goddamn tank made the game quite different in how I played.

Now I love Bioshock, but it's largely down to the environment. Art deco under the sea is both beautiful and creepy, the dark and damp of it all make it a really good setting for the mood. Bioshock above the clouds on an airship with trees and fresh air - not so much.

And I'm not big on the female character. Why does she look like a Disney princess? That totally spoils my want to play. A more realistic-looking character would've looked much better.

I'll end up playing it for sure though. Who knows, maybe the Disney princess will surprise me.

We'll see...
Personally I liked the first game and thought the second was pretty meh. Still fun to play, but... meh. It doesn't appear to follow the same pattern though, so hopefully it will be a great game.

I'll most probably buy it when the price drops.

I loved the first Bioshock and hated the second...I am a bit worried over Infinite since Booker talks and Elizabeth just seems kinda shoe-horned in for the sake of co-op missions...

Also, it seems like the 'plasmids' in this game really are more like super-powers. I mean, yeah, the original ones in Bioshock were REALLY fantastical, but this seems...even more ridiculous.

I was excited until I saw the gameplay videos and it just doesn't look like something I'll pick up right away. Too much focus on run and gun action and not the slow immersive atmosphere of Bioshock 1.

I don't like it when people just jump to conclusions right away, what you saw so far is Ken Levine explaining the game mechanics such as the Sky-Lines and the Tears.
What makes you think there won't be any "breather" moments? We saw very little of the game.

For me? Well, I'm considering freezing myself till 2012 arrives.

As long as it doesn't have Bioshock 2's 'You have to hurry and get over here! No, don't explore! GET OVER HERE NAOW!'-feel to it, I think I'd buy it.

It's quite obvious I'm excited for this game.

It's like a "spark of innovation" in the sea of modern fps's with two weapon limit and regenerating health.

We'll see. There are things I like, but I fear that a character with a voice might ruin the immersion. And immersion was the key element of Bioshock for me. First day I got it I played it for 12 hours straight without noticing the time! Bioshock 1 is a game I keep coming back to. That's how you can recognize a good game. If you feel the urge to play it again after beating it (doesn't matter how long it's been since you played it) it's good. If Bioshock Infinite makes me do that I'll consider it a good game.
