well its a simple question, do you call black people black or african america? and why?
Its kind of obvious what I call them, black. The reason I just call them black is that technicly we are all from africa and calling them african american has always seemed racist to me, I mean its saying they are african before they are american and most of them have family lines that go back futher then alot of white ppl.

"African American" is less politically correct than the blanket term "black". African American implies that all black people are from Africa, when they could easily be from the Caribbean, or Haiti, or tons of other places.

So it's black.

Black in a casual or familiar setting, African American in a public or formal setting simply to avoid starting unnecessary drama. Call me a spineless dweeb, I just don't like having to defend myself over the logistics of things. If I'm arguing, I'd rather it be over what I said, not how I said it.

Well, if they were born in America, calling them African - American makes little tad sense still. Sure, maybe there ancestors or whatever were from Africa, but if I call them African American then that means people have to start calling me British - Canadian.

Black is a lot faster, and I don't think anyone will call me 'British - Canadian' as opposed to the obvious 'white.' So there.

I'm White, he's Black. I'm compared to a shitty blank page and he's compared to my favourite colour. Not fair.

I would also like to just emphasize that I support this view:

"African American" is less politically correct than the blanket term "black". African American implies that all black people are from Africa, when they could easily be from the Caribbean, or Haiti, or tons of other places.

And add: I know a white guy that is technically African American, and not a single black guy that was born in Africa.

I've still never gotten a probation. I was given a final warning a few weeks ago, though.
I try to save the racism for real life when it's needed, however. (Yes, it is needed sometimes.)

I don't even care that that sounds racist... it's hilarious.

I call black people black, and white people white.

"African American" seems like a waste of syllables to me, so I pretty much never use it. I wouldn't call a white person a "Caucasian American", either.
