Poll: BlazBlue, Yay? Nay?

What say you? I think this game is pretty effing awesome. Unique characters that all play surprisingly well, sprites as beautiful as any anime you've ever seen, and a deep fighting system at it's heart. Sure the story is batshit crazy, but it's a fighting game, who really cares about story when you're using a finishing move that involves carrying someone on your shoulders into space the slamming them into the ground from said height? The action is fast and furious, and fairly friendly to the newcomer.

That all being said, i think it's sad that this game targets a small demographic of niche players (i.e. guilty gear fans) when in reality, i think it's something all fighting game fans could get into, if for sheer beauty alone. Sadly, it's something i don't think will see a persistant community outside said niche players, thusly ending any chances we have of seeing real improvement and expansion upon it. What say you?

I love Guilty Gear! But honestly, the series has felt a little lackluster lately. BlazBlue brings back all the fun! And the characters are all very different, and all completely awesome.

The one complaint of this game, not mine by any means, is the most technique savy player can still be beat by a button-masher. And some of the characters are just naturaly easy versus other characters, so playing on-line can get frustrating if you only play as one character.

edit: oh yeah, I votes a huge "Yay!"

What makes you think it only caters to Guilty Gear players though? Because it lacks 3D and is anime-style or so?
I got the impression that BlazBlue already has a huge fanbase. It seems to be THE fighter people on the internet are talking about these days.

BlazBlue is great. It's all so smooth and finely tuned. It's one of those fighters you can really dig into, finding out just how deep the rabbithole goes.

I'd rate it much better than its closest (and as far as I know, only) current competitor KoF XII

I say this, because it appeals mostly to anime lovers sensibilities. Ridiculous stories, wacky, nonesensical characters who designs favor form over function. On top of all that, it hasn't really been marketed like say SFIV. It's not really being pushed into the mainstream. Yeah, there are quiet rumblings, but that's all. Soon enough it'll go the way of guilty gear and just be a favorite of the most hardcore of hardcore.
