My whole life, I've enjoyed movies. The thing is, I enjoy them whether their good or bad. There are only a few movies that I haven't enjoyed (Transformers 2...) but otherwise I can't seem to tell the difference between shit and a bar of gold. I went to watch The Book Of Eli, thought it was pretty cool; come home and look up some reviews and apparently it was a terrible movie. Personally, I think it's a good thing that I can watch these and be entertained but I want to hear your guys' opinions.

I'm with you dude.

Apparently I'm unable to dislike a film, I will sit there and quite happily watch anything which is placed infront of me. They may not be the best films in the world, but I still get some enjoyment out of them, so sod everybody else, enjoy what you enjoy!

I absolutely hate a lot of movies, but I tend to find some things that others just accept as being shit to have major redeeming qualities.

I liked X-men Origins a good bit- and I loved Law Abiding Citizen

Usually I don't hate a specific film, but I hate really specific aspects about it. Like the LotR movies we good, with the exception of Peter Jackson's influence on plot points.

Why would it be a curse? If you liked a movie, then saw a bunch of negative reviews for it, it shouldn't change your opinion about it. And if they DO change your opinion, then maybe your problem is that you let other people's opinions alter your own.

I kind of wish I would be able to like every movie I saw; I seem to be disliking alot of newer movies I have seen, and I wonder if it is because the movies themselves are declining in quality, or if I'm just becoming more judgmental.

I tend to try and like most of the movies i watch...except i can blatantly tell the a movie is jerking the franchise or is just so horrible like Mortal Kombat Annihilation bad.

Ignorence is bliss, so it's a blessing. I'd like the ability to like things that everyone knows is shit. Though you could get picked on by assholes who don't respect other people opinions.

The game Mech Assult was the reason I got my Xbox. I loved the sequel too, but apparently nobody else did.

Serious question to those who like everything: How old are you? (That question is often used in a negative way, that's not intended here.) I noticed that as I got older, bad movies that I enjoyed became bad movies that I didn't enjoy. Stuff I liked when I was 16 was way different from the stuff I liked at 19 and way different from what I like now in my mid-20s. Now there is so much drek out there that I just hate wasting my time with it. I actually remember the movie that made me realize that I can hate movies: Shanghai Knights. It was cheesy, unimaginative, predictable, and thus, boring. I wager that by the time I hit 50, I'll just have Apocalypse Now and There Will Be Blood on continuous play.

It may take time, but you might come to realize that you just get bored with bad films.

Hey i thought that movie kicked ass to, and I'm usually very picky with movies.

OT: It's a good thing, I hate paying to waste my time seeing crappy movies

Dude, I love movies also and I think the one thing that people(reviewers) tend to forget is that movies are there to entertain. They get so caught up in thinking they need to watch perfectly made indie movies that buck the system all the time that they forget it's just fucking entertainment. Does Lady Gaga or Katy Perry make music that's going to change the world or is musically incredible in any way? No, they do not, but they create entertainment which is an incredible thing in and of itself. So don't worry about whether you like movies that are not life/art changing experiences, just like what you like. I personally enjoyed the hell out of Legion, Movie Bob did not agree with me, but you know what? Fuck him. I liked it and it's not up to him if I like something.

Fucking A, wall of text. Sorry.

As long as a movie isn't boring, I'm fine with watching it...except maybe Twilight but I'm not going to try and turn this into a flame war.

I agree with the OP, and for books, too. My disbelief is easily suspended, so it's quite rare for me to actively dislike something whilst in the midst of if.

I need a full on synopsis of the plot before I even consider watching a movie and even with that I end up walk out after the first half hour. Then again I watch a lot of anime and the stories and how they are told are completely different form Hollywood movies, so I have different taste than the majority.

It's quite possible that you're missing out.

See, just as an appreciation of literary themes, cinematography, metaphor, tropes, &c. makes bad movies more annoying to watch, it makes good movies better. You can enjoy the work on multiple levels. You can see how it relates to other works. You can appreciate the craftsmanship all the people working on it put into it. You can draw lasting lessons from the themes of the work.

It's okay to like vapid movies. It's okay to like movies that your friends or the critics don't. If you truly can't even tell the difference between an excellent film and a merely entertaining one, though -- well, you're definitely missing out.

I have an unrefined and pallet too. That extends to most things besides movies too. I think it's a blessing because you can be entertained no matter what is going on and then you can always ask about the deeper things you missed later.
