Urgh...
I do NOT want to pay for maps. I have always hated paying for mappacks, its a stupid idea, because if you payed for the game, why should you fork out £10 for some new crap that doesnt really add much?
If this does go ahead, there better be a "try map once before buying option" so people don't accidentally. I like the idea of rewarding the modding/mapping community, but not at the expense of the player.

Why should I pay for something I got for free whilst playing Starcraft 1? I might as well just keep on playing SC1 and never bother with number 2.

It seems that Blizzard is taking example from Infinity Ward(Charging more for less) and Capcom(Forcing people to pay for content already on disc). I used to hold Blizzard in high regards but nowadays it seems all they care about is money.

Well actually, it seems like most of the money would be going to the person who created the map. Its a way of rewarding the modding community for making amazing maps and game variants based on what theyre given.

And hell, modders should get paid for what they do. And its not like it cannot get popular.
If you have Warcraft III, log on to Battle.net and see how many War3 games there are... and how many DotA games there are...

Until we get more information, I'd lay off the kneejerk reactions. If the modders are able to make decent money selling their work, then I'm all for it. The guys that put out really amazing stuff get nothing but a pat on the back usually. I've played mods and maps in the past for assorted games that I'd gladly pay five bucks for.

Well, an entire campaign or something in that fashion would be worth the money.
And more modders would be interested in making maps.

If it's "some new crap that doesn't really add much", why are you getting it in the first place?

And if not at the player's expense, than at whose? Blizzard's? Why should they have to pay the modders out of their own pocket? It's not Blizzard who gain the most from these mods, it's the players who play them.

Blizzard does gain. Modability and great mods make people buy games, why do you think they are promoting it so much?
