I wish I could but they refused for me to donate due to minor reasons. (Lived overseas and my weight.) I?m A- too. Not super rare but it would be nice to have around.
Your weight? What effect does that have on the quality of your blood? I never paid much attention in science class so forgive me if it's totally obvious...

So any chance I can convince anyone on here to go blood doning soon?
You mean "donating" surely? I avoid correcting people's grammar/spelling because it happens, it's the internet and it's not terribly polite. I hope you'll forgive me, but you've completely mangled the word there.

Yeah, Red Cross told me I had to weight over a certain amount. (According to them 110.) Like I said, it?s a shame. The last time I tried to donate blood was when my friend had an accident. The doctors refused.

Already donating blood 4 times a year. That is the maximum for males in Sweden, for females it's only 3times a year.

Only takes 10mins to donate blood and it's often painfree as long as the needle is inserted right.. Had a nurse poking my arm with the needle a few times and that was somewhat painful and afterwards I looked like a heavy user with spasms..

There are not enough benefits for me to go do it in Sweden.
How about this for a benefit; how would you feel if you or a loved one got in a accident and needed blood to survive surgery and there was no blood to be used because people don't see the "benefits" of donating blood.
how abou tthey just pay you like 40 bucks and if you need the blood you pay the damn 40 bucks extra. students would all but que up for it cause hey, 40 bucks is nothing to sneeze at if your young-ish..

hmm, if i wasn't terrified of needles (i had a loooot of tests done on me at a young age), then i probably would. although i think i've been told something or other in the past about me not being able to give blood even if i wanted to, so it's an iffy subject even if i was miraculously exempt from having the usual panic attacks.

Jeez, theres a lot of needle phobic people here!

Yeah I do it, been doing it for years. Dont see any real reason not to. Its not like it costs you anything.

Plus, I read somewhere its good for men, men get a bad build up of iron over time and giving blood can combat that. Women dont usually have to worry about that though, for obvious reasons!

It seems like if all these needle phobes were treated and they allowed the homosexuals to do it, there wouldnt be a lack of blood. Or at least they would have a lot more.

They should make it a compulsory tax! The blood tithe :)

Did you try leaving, hitting KFC for a Family Bucket, and going back again shouting "weigh me now bitches, I dare you!"? :p

No you cannot. :) There are not enough benefits for me to go do it in Sweden. All I get is like... 40 sek and a coupon for a free sandwich
You get a free sandwich? Lucky! All we get is a handshake and a warning to not do anything strenuous. That last bit is why I don't give blood currently, btw. I work hard, manual labour 6 days a week (occasionally a seventh day as well, if there's a lot to do), so I can't really afford to be low on blood. Collapsing on the job is not a good idea.

Say donating, doning same thing, but the tiny amount of ambiguity in doning confuses old people like me >.<

Sadly I was blessed with a naturally slim figure. I have eaten a KFC family bucket by myself. I just got bigger boobs.

I donate blood regularly, every three months. I even got the the discount in certain stores because I gave it more than 10 times, it's how it works in my country, there are some bonuses for more than 15, 20...an so on...also if you are regular donor they consider your blood cleaner and they use it for more important stuff, like babies and children.

Donate blood, if you can, it's good for you. New blood cells are created faster if you donate blood, thus you are healthier. Also you get a sandwich and juice after donation! :D

I'm 0+ so my blood good for almost everyone.

Yeah, I remember when we used to hang around Underground Blood Donation Stations all night in the cold, just waiting for a chance.
It was riskier back then, of course. But now they've totally sold themselves out with their 'Clean needles'.
Too mainstream.

I've not donated for years but I have done in the past and plan to again in the New Year.

Although there is no payment, I still donate because, unlike some, I actually want to help my fellow man and don't expect payment for it! Mind you, they do bring you a paper, a cuppa and some snacks so it's not a one-way street by any stretch.

For the record my blood is A RH Positive. It's a fairly common blood type (so I'm told) and I really need to get donating again. I've not donated for a few years for a number of reasons.

The last time I did, I had a bit of a scare. It was my own stupid fault for donating blood, forgetting (trust me, I AM that dozy!) and then trying to play DDR a few hours later. Halfway through Ecstacy (on Expert) I near collapsed! I've not played DDR since...

Nope, I can't because I've recently had a tattoo.

I've never given blood yet, purely because, since 18 I've either been inked or pregnant/given birth.

One day... I will.
