OP: I think I'd rather farm meteors (or whatever people do at that time) than join a group of suspicious mercenaries.

They're all pretty pathetic, seeing as how Shepard mows through dozens of them in each mission not involving the collectors or geth.

Blood Pack wouldn't even let me join, or if they did it would be as a joke or just to use me as a distraction. That is if they don't just kill me outright for thinking I could join them.
Eclipse seem the most reasonable, best equipped, and also have asari. But then again they do have the ugliest armor and still get mowed down by the truckload.
If I must choose, I'd have to go with Eclipse. But personally I'd much rather wait and see if Shepard is hiring.

Blood Pack only takes Krogan and Vorcha, other than that they don't have any standards. In the words of Zaeed: "Blood Pack always did like them incredibly goddamn stupid."

I also want to see more Yagh in ME3 and a bet having one as a companion would be awesome.

Edit: On topic, I'd almost certainly go Blood Pack. They're not terribly intelligent, but that just means I'd likely be able to manipulate my way to the top and have my own personal army of super-regerating aliens.
