Hey there UK members of The Escapist!
Just wondering what everyone is doing for Bonfire night. (See the poll above).

Also, i would like to bring up the topic of sound limited fireworks. Over the last 5 years there has been restirctions on the size and noise of the fireworks we use (resulting in the banning of a few house hold fireworks such as Blitzers - The little thing with the pointy end that basically shoot a small bomb in the air just to go BANG). Myself hate the sound limitaion, i like things that go boom not fizz (Yes, the reason why so many rockets now just go fizz, instead of the expected bang).

Never could bring myself to go to a social gathering of more than 1 person. That person being me, of course.

Fireworks are illegal in Ireland, but you can get them in Northern Ireland real easy. I'll just send up a bunch of fireworks on Halloween and have a few friends round.

PS: I always found the UK bonfire night weird cos it's basically saying 'look, we beat the Catholics, nyah-nyah.'
Bonfire night is a terrible excuse for fireworks, yes it involed gunpowder, but do we really need to celebrate it with fireworks? Its mad, i dont complain because after all, its fireworks!!!

As an American, I have no idea what bonfire night is. Can someone enlighten me?

Probably nothing much, as with the last few years. Occasionally, we go to a big Fire-Department-run show in the nearby town.

I dunno last time we got drunk and pissed about with fireworks and somehow managed to get away with no injuries, I think I'm gonna do that again.

I LOVE Bonfire Night. It's my faovurite holiday of the year by far.

Either a group of mates in a field with a bonfire. Or a neighbourhood display of lots of fireworks. I dunno, depends how things plan out.

Celebrates the day when Guy Fawkes Failed to blow up Pariliament back in THE DAY.

Usually consists of firework displays, planned events at a public place or setting them off in your neighbourhood, whatever. As well as making massive piles of wood and setting it on fire, having you and your mates or family crowd round it with food, drink and having a good time. It's the best holiday of the year for me.

Well, originally the idea was to gather around a bonfire sing and dance and perform blood orgies, And sacrifice Virgins, But that didn't work out too well.

I'm kidding of course, But a Bonfire with friends is good.

Something with the rest of the Student Union. Or not, apparently there's fuck all planned. That's stupid. I'm going to have to go jump on my student reps and see what's up with that.
