Wow. I laughed and laughed and laughed after I saw the results of this poll. Wonder what the one guy who said no is thinking =p
He's probably wondering what these collection of letters on a page means! XD

I'm into scifi fantasy, but I've fallen out of love with things like DragonLance, Forgotten Realms, World of Warcraft, Star Wars, The Sword of Truth Novels, and I liked battletech until they hit the "Dark Age" :p

What I've been reading is generally Adult low fantasy novels. and by Adult I don't mean porn in a book form. Glenn Cook and George R.R. Martin are the two biggest writers in the field (even if nobody ever heard of Cook). Generally the stories have characters that sleep with camp followers, and do other somewhat dastardly deeds. Black Company has probably the DARKEST scene I've ever seen in a book. I don't think people will object to it but I still don't want to toe the line of posting rules.

Depends on what type of book?

If you mean textbooks like Sociology or Psychological or Criminology theories and journals dealing with real life theories and events then yes as that knowledge is far to important to not read.

However if you mean little fluff kid books like Lord of the Rings,OR Sci-Fi, Fantasy then no but you can tell I might be biased.

I read the same books as the movies I watch. Horror, suspense, comedy and certain non-fiction (war stories, etc.)

I'm a big fan of Ian Fleming (James Bond) and Cpt. William Earl Johns (Biggles).
Probably something to do with British pride. >_>

I haven't read any recently for my own pleasure. Nothing has really caught my eye. I still get a lot of my story telling experience through video games (MGS4!) rather than books. They serve the same purpose, but I like having some of my own involvement in aforementioned story.

I love reading, ever since my dad took away the cable box when I was a kid (probably the one thing I am most thankful to him for) and I realized we had a whole wall of books to read.

I mainly stick with fictional novels. I started off reading Tom Clancy (the Jack Ryan stories) and went from there. Some of my favorites are Lord of the Rings, Dune, Stranger in a Strange Land, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Ender's Game and the Shadow series, and Catch 22. I also own The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (though I haven't read all of the plays yet), dozens of Star Wars novels (X-wing series is by far my absolute favorite, seeing as I've read them so many times) and I also enjoy fantasy novels beyond LotR. I've read most of the Wheel of Time series, and I'll read just about any book with dragons in it. I recently read Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind, which was excellent, I'm currently re-reading it in anticipation of picking up its sequel Stone of Tears.

Currently reading Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" it's really, really bleak.
I've got a copy there to read, but I want to finish 'Middlemarch' first. Though the only book I seem to be reading at the moment is Greenwood and Earnshaw's 'Chemistry of the Elements'... damn revision.

I'm reading Lovecraft for leisure. I'm reading Chekov for school. I have to say both are excellent, and I was already doing Chekov for Theatre (The Inspector-General), so, needless to say, I would read both authors for leisure if I had the time.

Hey, I was just interested to know how many people do read on this forum? How often do you read, how many books, genre of book etc if you do, and if you don't why don't you read at all? And yes obviously I'm sorry if this topic has been done before, but the search bar is definately not my friend ¬,¬.
I read. Very often. A lot of books usually at once. Fantasy, Sci-fi, Fiction, Non-fiction, History, Social Sciences. for the full list just ask.

I love to read. I love reading classics, fantasy and horror mostly. Right now I'm ready 'The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde'

I try to read at least a little bit, every day.

I've recently gotten into existentialist fiction.

Rereading Walker Percy's The Moviegoer as we speak.

I don't read a lot of books. But there are some books that really get me. The Eragon series was like crack to me. The 2nd one wasn't all that good though. I also like to read about world history ocasionaly.

A Song of Ice and Fire is my favorite series. Currently reading through Bakker's Prince of Nothing series (about halfway through book 2.)

OMG! This is the only poll I've ever seen with 42 yes votes, 100%. C'mon all the "no" people, I know you are out there somewhere...
We don't want to paint targets on our heads, which i'm afraid I just did.

Though I find it weird how I like the Read or Die anime/manga series when i'm not a fan of novels.
