I'll say right now that i never was a big C&C fan but i have enjoyed many C&C games. But I know alot of people who have played C&C since the first one and they are not a bit happy about the decitions EA are making on the game. And for what i've eard the game sounds like a total slap to the face for C&C fans.

Here is an interesting blog-post i read about this situation:
http://globalgeeknews.com/blog/2009/08/05/ea-is-going-to-kill-command-conquer-with-cc-4/

So... Are you going to boycott C&C and why?

Fan since the first "Tiberium Dawn" game. I wont be boycotting the game as its nice to see something different. If they simply repeat it AGAIN for "One more game" I fear the series will then be unrecoverable but thats my opinion.

Reason I say that is because I was so excited when RA3 came out I played it LOOOADS but for the first time I couldnt see any point in getting the add-on's that came afterwards as I was too busy enjoying the DoW 2 style gameplay.

Basically I think C&C needs to now take a leaf out of the Company Of Heroes book and create a brand new engine with some newer interactive environments. I mean imagine Tiberium Wars with the CoH cover system and destructive environment? Would be awesome.

Although I think there was a bit of a continuity screw up in the 3rd it was still really well done and I expect the 4th will be even better.

I do hope boycotting isn't the new solution over every little thing that people get wangsty about otherwise there's going to be a lot more fanboy whining in the future.

Yes, because boycotts are always so effective.

OP: I won't, because it doesn't really bother me. I'm more of a passive player, I enjoy them, but not enough to mind where the series goes.

Good luck to the boycotters though, not that it will work.
Yeah. Boycotts never work but it's rather fun watching hundreds of people going around the internet going: "MW2 doesn't have deticated servers! NOOOOOOO!"

Anyone who uses "slap in the face" unironically needs a kick to the delicates.

Will be buying, will probably be enjoying, don't care what anyone says about the changes because whether or not they're 'good' for the series (which ends with C&C4 anyway?) is up to my personal tastes and I'll decide when I actually play the bloody game.

You have got to be kidding.

When will people get it through their thick skulls that boycotting a game is just stupid and NEVER has a good, logical reason to justify it?

Agreed.

OT: No, I'll wait and see how the game turns out before I start judging it

No. Boycotting games never works and only servers to show how self-absorbed, petty, and stupid gamers can be.

This made me laugh for a good long time, as i was planning to type out the exact same thing :)

Also, the game sounds like they looked at dawn of war 2 and went "fuck it, that looks cool". I won't bother buying it, though i personally like the idea of the online thing. I mean nowadays i have internet 24/7, and i'm sure if my internet connection goes down i can play a different game from C&C4. Although it would appear if your a crazy hardcore rabid fan, playing other games is cleary heresy.

Boycotting something for design decisions?!

Where does this sense of entitlement come from. If you don't like what they're doing with the game, just do not buy it.

That's not a boycott, that's just a choice.

If you don't like it or want it, don't buy it. No need to make a political issue out of it by calling it a boycott.

I just kinda skimmed over the changes and think they sound neat. I'm always up for game companies taking risks and trying something new even if it doesn't always work out.

"Boycott" may be getting to an overused term at this point. It basically means you don't buy a game because you're genuinely not interested at all in it. If the term 'boycott' really meant this, then I guess everyone here is boycotting the $3900 flash game of a guy jumping on a single screen that I put on my website.

To anyone saying "Boycotts never work" you're wrong. The only ATTEMPTS AT video game boycotts we've seen so far WERE NOT BOYCOTTS. Boycotts worked in Civil Rights days because the bus companies realized "Oh f***. Absolutely NOBODY is riding on our busses. We must have seriously pissed off some MLKJr." Nowhere near enough people were involved in the boycott, so both Left 4 Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2 were resounding successes.

But if less then ten thousand people bought each of those games, those companies would H-A-V-E to change their tune. It's just fact of business.

Huh well it worked for the L4D2 boycotters, they got to be flown out and play the game early.

My one problem is how people look at something that has a horrible trend and suddenly decide theirs will be the one that works.

@Katana: We're not saying boycotts don't work, just videogame and entertainment industry boycotts.

I don't know.... Who's on the cover? because if she's hot I'll buy it.

(That's how these things work right?)

I'm one of those "since the beginning fans". And i have to say, i'm sick and tired of shitty C&C games. I'm sick and tired of building up a massive armed force and steam rolling my enemies. It gets old. It seems like each installment has less and less strategy in it. I won't even bother after Tiberium Wars. Its not like i'm "boycotting". I just won't buy it, because i won't enjoy it.
