Poll: Braces

I have braces and they are horrible, I have half a year left untill I get them off but that still doesn't meen I dont suffer every time they get tightened, so who else has braces?

I had them, and, as terrible as they were, they really helped me. Firstly, I look far more attractive now than I did before, so I'm more confident; secondly, it did things like stopped me from biting my nails, which was a big problem for me. So yeah, they're worth it in the end.

I don't, despite my dentist offering them to me.
I couldn't be bothered with all the teeth removal and stuff required for them. Not to mention if something was going to stop me getting on with someone, it would be my clear lack of social skills and not that I have one tooth overlapping the other.
Plus, I'm British. If a foreigner met me, they'd be disappointed that the stereotype of bad teeth would be wrong.

I have the option of getting braces but I just don't see the benefit in getting them. According to my Dentist I don't need them, but if I want my teeth to be better looking I could get them.

And aside from maybe looking better I don't think I could live with braces for 6 months/ 1 year/ however long I would need them.

I had mine removed about 8 months ago after nearly 3 years and its so nice being free of them. But I did REALLY need them though, so its probably for the best that I had them.

After a while you don't even notice the retainer. Hell, maybe you'll get lucky and you'll get the perma-hold things at the back of your teeth. Those things are annoying for about 2 days and after that you don't notice them.

Well, my brother had them. So living with him, I have gotten quite experienced of how it would be.

Special toothbrushes to just get to "those" places, bad after-effects of chewing some food...

But nice teeths, in the end... All though I have heard they could get back to their former form.

hey, i have something to tell you. this is a secret no one tells you about when wearing braces. once you get them taken off you need to wear a retainer for the rest of your life. and if you break one you need to pay $150 whenever you break one of them, and you might need to wear two like me.

Ok, do EXACTLY as the dentist says, if you don't you may as well hit youself in the face with a hammer the second they get taken off. also, wear the retainer for more than the minium time, thats where i went wrong.
OT i had braces and i quite like them for some reason... i think they are strangely sexy on women as well for some reason...

I had braces. I will never do that to my kids. I will get them those invisaligns. they are more user friendly and aren't needed for any where near as long as metal braces. I despised my time with metal teeth, taking proper care of ur teeth when u wear braces is impossible. It would take you an hour a day. and getting hit in the face with a ball, don't even get me started. I literally had to peel my lips or cheeks off my braces a dozen times or more.

I had them when I was a kid, now I've got this invisalign-like retainer. God, did I hate tightening them. I didn't realize how royally messed up my teeth were (I actually got them to correct a massive overbite), so now when I look at pictures of myself from before I had them I always think "God, I could rip a tire off with those things."
