In response to TheNecroswanson's thread regarding cheese, I've decided to post my own food related thread.
I used to be a young buck who only enjoyed the simple fares of continental cuisine. With age, like a good cheese, I have matured, and developed a more adventurous palate. At the age of 21, I moved to the great State of California, and was introduced to real Mexican food. No, not the average plates you find at your local cantina, but REAL Mexican food. Tacos de Lengue, sopas, etc.
To date, I'm positive that I've eaten, at one point or another, almost every part of a cow, pig, goat, chicken, turkey, duck, lamb, and fish. Well, there aren't that many parts of a fish to eat, but you get the idea.
Which brings me to my long-winded point. I've grown to be more open, with age, to what other cultures use as food. Some parts were amazing, others, not so much. So, I ask you fellow Escapists, has your palate changed as you've aged? Do you find yourself more willing to try the unknown or scary food?
BTW, my current favorite is rognons de veau a la moutarde, which is, for those of you who don't speak French, veal kidneys with mustard sauce...mmm, mmm, it's good
EDIT: Perhaps I should have added the question; If you answered yes to the poll, what are some foods outside of your comfort zone that you tried and liked?
