I think Bulletstorm will be fun. I'll also be getting Brink. I can't say one will be better than the other since they're two different types of games, Bulletstorm being full of immature jokes and lots of ridiculous fun, Brink being a parkour-esque shooter with less of the immature jokes but the same amount of immature jokes.

I think both will be good buys.

I was excited for both, until I read that Brink won't have OHK melee, snipers, or shotguns. Even with headshots. All three of these are completely useless now. Melee, because unless it's a complete stealth attack, the other person will just shoot you, or if it's anything like UC2, drop a grenade.

Shotguns are useless now because that's how they work. They're a one hit kill at close, and useless beyond that because you have to fucking pump them. This is game balance 101, The slow, short range gun gets lots of damage. This makes sense for semi-autos, but not pump-action ones.

Snipers were already going to be weak in Brink given the characters speed and mobility, but now they're going to be beyond useless. Even in a wide open game like Bad Company, if your first shot fails to kill them, they'll probably get away. In tight urban environments, say hello to lots of assists.

The only way any of these will be at all useful will be if all the guns take forever to kill people, which makes the combat less satisfying and makes it a no purchase for me.

Bulletstorm still looks cool though.

I'm in for bulletstorm, rewarding me for killing things in interesting ways? crazy guns and a whole variety of weird things to use them on? holding down realistic FPS's heads in a bucket of water and choking the life out of them as sacrifices to bring back the mighty Duke?

Yes

Yes

and hell yes

Brink on the other hand gives me a case of the mehs

Jeebus, but reading that opening post was painful. Took a few seconds to translate properly...

OT: Maybe one, maybe both, maybe neither... but if I do, it'll be from a bargain bin long after the release date. I'll give 'em this: they're the most interesting pure FPSes to come out in a very long time...
But that's not sayin' much.

Brink looks amazing. I've been following news about it obsessively. TF2 meets Mirror's Edge, ammirite?

Bulletstorm looks pretty lame to me though. I don't understand the huge hype behind it.

I played the demo of Bulletstorm and I got bored after my first 5 kills (new record of less than a minute for me) because you're going to do the exact same kills for at least 80% of the game, I feel at least. I think Brink at least has good replay value because the multplayer and player investment seem good. I already thought about Bulletstorm getting old quick WAY before they even announced the demo but not that quick after playing just the demo, I know it's a demo but even some demos I like playing over and over before the game comes out.

Neither. Anything related to Bulletstorm leaves me feeling insulted, in much the same manner as watching someone demonstrate a device that makes farting noises when you press a button. It also came across like a buddy game, which I dislike.

And Brink? ...what is Brink? I seemed to have missed everything about that game. Google images gave me a picture of a man with a gun facing a guy in football gear, leading me to believe it's just another shooter or the most 'hardcore' sports title I've seen yet.

Brink looks interesting, but after the problems I've had with Bethesda's Fallout games (crashes, exclusive DLC for other consoles, etc.), I wouldn't mind an alternative. This game looks like it will be worth my time.

Bulletstorm looked like fun, but it also seems to just be a one trick pony, Gears of War with humour.

Brink actually looks to have awesome gameplay.

I'm really interested in BRINK, but I don't give two shits about Bulletstorm. The only thing I've even really cared about it is that the special edition has early access to the Gears of War 3 beta.

I can just tell that it's going to end up like Madworld. It gets advertised as being full of crazy ways to kill enemies, but you're really just going to end up killing them in the same few boring ways. Not interested.

Of course, this is speculation. I haven't had anything to personally do with either games, yet.

So Bulletstorm and Brink.

Honestly, I like Bulletstorm, the writing is so stupid that it can be taken as a parody, and the game play is basically a breath of fresh air from all of the COD's and Battlefield.I mean when was the last time a game like this has been made? The Mid 1990's?

Brink, on the other hand,...Oh Brink

The fact that when I went on this form I confused it with Breach is just an example of how unknown it is to the gaming mainstream. And there are still 2 things that bother me about the game...

1)How you create your character affects what you can do and get: this right here just spell out unbalanced game to me and can only imagine that all the small free-running guys will only get shotguns and pistols, while all the big burly men will get rocket launchers and Large Machine Guns.

2)Cross playing: This just urks me since I might be trying to get ahead in the story, but I will probably be blocked by some douches who live and breath this game. All I'm saying is if there going to do this at least add some kind search filter that would separate the pros from the beginners like they did in Halo:Reach.

In Conclusion, I would buy Bulletstorm, if it wasn't going to be released in the same month a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (Priories!).I Would need a demo for brink to calm my fears about playing it.

I'm sure you're right. That's the impression I got from watching the trailers. I was excited at first, but then it started seeming an awful lot like Gears.

Based on Google Images, that makes sense, but you need to check out the details, it's got a million new ideas and looks really clever. Definitely not "just another shooter" no sir. Possibly the most important shooter of this year.

1. ONLY the size of your dude determines the weapons you can carry, which is the very point in the sizes. Heavies can carry miniguns, but are slow and can only parkour over things waist-height. Lights can only carry smaller weapons, but are fast and can use parkour over things taller than themselves. And mediums, of course, are the middle ground. It's all catered to your personal playing style. Also, you can have 16 different custom guys to choose from, not just 1, so you can have a variety of heavies, lights, and mediums, all at your disposal for when you change your mind.

2. Multiplayer is not required. You can play the game single player, 8 player co-op, or full 2-team 16 player PvP if you like. You can also switch between single, co op, and multi at any time, and you can use the same guy for all 3 modes. I intend to play it single player campaign all the way through on team Resistance, then multiplayer campaign as team Security.
