Poll: Bulletstorm: Killing with skill?

I love Bulletstrom. So much so that my friend came over and we ran through the story, all the echo's and reached level 24 in the multiplayer. It is an amazingly fun game to play with friends.

But now its time to stroke my ego alittle. Little over 72 from launch, and in a single 12 hour gaming binge, i hit 3rd on the leaderboard. The sad part is, i hit 56 before i was even going back through the echos.

If you notice on the list, both "StAuCh3r" and "COMADRONE" both hacked. D: Which is sad really.

So, Escapist, do you guys kill with skill? Or are your bullets wasted?

I dont have the game but in the demo I tried hard to get the high score, in my friends list I was in first place.

Yeah. We ended up hitting a wall at around 8 this morning. ((after 10 hours of straight playing)) It was really thanks to him that i managed to get from 5th to 3rd.
He came up with the idea for a 5 person "French Revolution".

But what really tipped me over was a 7 man X-ray on "Mall" ((for 7k points)). It was almost a 10 man but Ishi got in the way xD

But the full gam is worth atleast a rent. i bought it, and its one of the few purchases i dont regret.

Out of the demo I was first in my friends list, though. Very much looking forward to this game, however, I don't aspire to reach any high on the leaderboards.

Did Staucher really hack? Is it impossible to get that score with 42 stars (I'm guessing that's the problem here)or is it just unlikely.

Comadrone is obvious but I've not played the full game so I don't know about Staucher.

8k is pretty good, on average, for one echo mission. The score in the screenshot is the cumulated total of all ~20 of them.

Ah So i suck slightly less then what I thought. Good to hear.

I don't know what stars are.

But If stars are awarded for each new skill shot then Stauncher could just of found a bunch he stuck with instead of branching out. But as I said I don't know what stars are.

Each "Echo" mission gives you stars acording to your score with a max of 3 per level (its basicly "Bronze, Silver and Gold").
Most levels require a number of stars to play in.

It may be possible that on the levels that he played he played REALLY GOOD, meaning that while not playing all levels he still managed to get a huge score on the ones that he played.

Imagine that I played all of them and got 3 stars in every level, but only got 11k for each (enough for 3 stars), I did all the levels with a good score but a guy that did a few less levels but got 19k for each probably gets more points in the end.

I dont know, it would require some deep thinking, but he probably still hacked since I find hard to believe the gap that exist between him and the other guys. Imagine his score with all the levels (the 60 stars).


On a side note, WHY didnt PCF added 3 more levels to have a limit of 69 stars? Yes, it is childish but that is what their humor is all about, dicktits.

I got it for PC and have had zero problems with the game. I fail to see how it would be considered a bad port, hell I call bullshit on that unless you have some grudge against GFWL. Controls work fine, visuals are great, no real nagging performance issues. On a technical level, the game works and works damn well.

It's also really really fun, but wait for the demo if you are that cautious or look up gameplay footage. It's fun finding new ways to kill mass amounts of enemies in gory and silly ways.

Yes. it is litterally impossible to get that high without 60 stars. You have to do every echo, and be within the top 10-200 for every score. All of mine are 2nd on the leaderboard to 90th. YOu can look on the list and everyone has 60. xD

I just casually went through them all offline. Good fun, but i don't see the point of high scores in general.

Yeah, i figure i will lose my spot sometime in the next month. But i just find it funny that 3 days in im 3rd on the planet xD

I feel that this is one of the few games that really has a good ranking system. Because it doesnt matter how many times you run an echo, if you dont run it perfictly, your score will never go up. It forces you to plan and accually get better! Something that videogames these days are lacking.

As in console to PC port. Mouse aim, field of view, aspect ratio, framerate etc. are all fucked up in classic console port style. Config files which allow lessening some of the problems have been deliberately made harder to edit. Also, Games for Windows Live and network activation.

I also own a console, but I definitely won't get a game on console when it has a crap PC version, because that would send the wrong message to the devs.

As far as console ports go, Bulletstorm is not bad at all. All of those config tweaks can be made in under five minutes and the game plays perfectly well. I think you're making a bigger deal out of this than there needs to be.

I don't think StAuch3r has cheated in anyway, he has an insane score on some Echos yet not in others. I'm currently 4th it's pretty competetive.

I don't understand the point of hacking to get on the leaderboards. It's obvious when you've done so, so it's not like you'll be getting any praise, anyways.

Have only played like 4 echoes so i'm currently 20k moreless, the game is great, but anarchy can sometimes be terible if you don't have a team, or people who always miss the team challenges just to get the kill
