Does buying used games bother you in anyway? If it does, why?

For me buying used games is no problem. It only bothers me if: It's in bad shape, residue on the cover, there?s no instruction manual, if it?s the ?greatest hits? or ?Platinum? version and/or it?s not in original case.

It has to be in the original casing, with full instructional booklet. I can excuse Platinum or Greatest Hits covering only if i've been looking for a particular game for a long period of time.

nope. as long as the game works im good to go with it, as i take good care of my games so i know it'll work for a long ass time.

alot of used games i get i can't find anywhere else anymore, but when i do find them, i might just be lucky but i get them in damn good conditions so im happy =]

I obviously prefer the game intact with manual. But typically it doesnt bother me. I found call of duty world at war for 20 bucks. Especially critical when Ive no job and no unemployment coming in. But when Ive got a steady income ill typically go for new games. Just like the fact that no ones touched the game.

Unless you go to gamestop...grab a "new game" and have them pull out the game from a sleeve. Sry but if its been opened, its not new.

Well, seeing as there were only two copies of Burnout and Burnout 2 in the whole state, I guess I had to let them slide.
I would still have my original Burnout 2 with everything if my damn friend didn't borrow it and move to England.
Swear to god, I never handed out a game after that.

It doesn't really bother me at all.
I like it when i can get a used game with the Original box and Manuel.
But its not really that big of a deal.

I either pre-order a game if it interests me immediately, or wait until pre-owned versions of it become available later on.

Not only do I hate buying used games, I don't even like buying new games unless they're in the original shrink-wrap.

And I hate it when you can't get the price sticker off the casing without leaving residue.

Primarily, I don't buy used games on principle - the used game market is driving up game prices, after all - but there's a lot to be said for having a pristine game.

Manuals are especially important. Why, just a few hours ago, I needed the game manual for BF:BC2 to look up which ports had to be forwarded for online play.

I buy used a lot. Honestly If it werent for buying used theres many games I would have never played.

OT: I dont get what the problem is with buying greatest hits/plat versions used, or why having the manual is a big deal.

EDIT: AOT: Dont get the notion that buying used games is driving game prices up either.

+1

On both aspects.

Why don't people like Greatest Hits? Half the time (examples from my shelf being Silent Hill 2, Persona 3, and Fallout 3) they come with additional content for free. Also, if a game's been out for a while, the Greatest Hits are usually in better condition (played fewer times).

EDIT: Okay, Fallout 3 was a "game of the year" edition. Not the same thing. But the point still stands for other games.

No, one can but used books, movies, music, cars, houses, organs (well they are donated technically) so why not games?

I always try to buy my games used from the local Gamestop. They're usually in good shape (They wouldn't even take my LotR game because it had a small scratch but worked fine) and you get to save money so why the hell not?

I find it utterly pathetic that publishers complain about lost profits because of the used games market.

Yes they aren't exactly the same thing but you don't see car manufacturing companies complaining like this about the used car market for pete's sake.

Most of my games are used. I rarely by new unless it came out. It cheaper and it usually work. If it doesn't, just return it. It does kinda bother me if it isn't the original case or it has no manual, but it isn't that big of a deal.

honestly, yes. Buying used games bothers me, but not on a moral basis. I couldn't care less about whether or not some company got money off my purchase, but i do care about quality. I'm totally willing to shell out more money for a game that is pristine rather than risking an unplayable disk and/or missing its instruction book. SO annoying when it happens >_<!

I buy used games because I never seem to have time to play the damn things when they're new and then I refuse to pay a larger amount for the same game new - although that might change if you're not going to be able to play used games online if the code has been used. Morally I see why people could get pissed off, but I've never been one to thank the people who do things for me. :p
