Treyarch do not have a great record (Aside from Call of Duty 3 they also managed to make being Spiderman a boring experience), so skepticism is warranted here.

HEY you guys who vote bad on this shame on you :p.
I mean have you even read the latest previews? This game is going to be a very "Dark and gritty" take on WWII. Remember cod4? well that had an exelent tone and this game is goin with a darker tone to.

If I may be as so bold to post a comic [http://digitalunrestcomic.com/index.php?date=2007-12-10].

As to my opinion, I haven't played many (see; Any) WWII First Person Shooters, the two main franchises (Medal of Honour, Call of Duty) seem a little drab to me. On the other hand, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway looks pretty fun.

All that said, I liked Call of Duty 4 a lot.

I think it's a bit early to call, but the trailer with the flamethrowers looked like every WW2 shooter I've ever played.

So suffice to say I'm not exactly rushing out to preorder this or anything.

I would like to see COD 6: Russian/Georgian Conflict. That would be super awesome. You could be the Georgian rebels trying to kill as many russians as possible before they rape and pillage the towns. Throw in a couple stealth sabatoge missions and you got yourself a decent game!

Dark and gritty eh? I'm seeing lots of brown, grays and black instore for us, and after playing the nice lit maps of CoD4, I'm not sure if I want to go back.

You never know they might do something original with the game. Perhaps they will set a campaign in the foothills of Republican China, perhaps as the guerrilla communist forces fighting against the Japanese invaders. Perhaps they will let you fight as the Greek army against the bungled Italian invasion. Perchance, if delicately handled, you may even be able to play as one of the Axis states in a campaign (not in the obvious ?we?re supervillains? way, but in the ?I?m a conscript who doesn?t want to be here either? way?). Instead of defending a village bridge in the Low Countries during an evacuation, maybe the fall of Singapore could be an option. Rather than spending the winter in the snowy fields of France, the icy plateaus of Manchuria would provide for an interesting killing ground.

If any idea like this is done no doubt it will be as the generic U.S. commando who finds himself inserted with the random nation, or as the Axis soldier who defects and end fighting side by side with the US army. Unfortunately I find it hard to believe that any form of innovation in setting will discount the imbedded notion of USA=majority of military action.

If we are very lucky though and prey very hard at our bedsides at night, we might get to land on Omaha beach again, but this time in HD!

I think it will be great. After playing Call of Duty 4 to death, I decided to try Call of Duty 3 again. I played through the campaign on normal, and I loved it. The campaign was simply amazing, it made me feel like I was really in WWII. COD 3 had an Immersion factor that COD 4 lacked. I really enjoyed the few matches I played online with COD 3 aswell, every player seemed to know how to use the guns effectively. I saw no-one 'Spraying and praying' like almost everyone does on COD 4.
By the way, one of the reason I'm buying this game is for the "generic weapons". World War II rifles are by far my favourite weapons. I would rather be armed with an M1 Garand rifle than an M4 Carbine or an M16 assault rifle.

WW2 is done to death... Grow up game designers!
Umm... And what about a WWII game, where you can play as a Nazi / Russian, and fight against the good? Or to do Pearl Harbor attack again, and again, but with different roles (plane, submarine, battleship, infantry, etc.).

As you can see, there are many things, that weren't used yet. But the developers seem to love feeding us the same American Shit Apple Pie again, and again.

Its being made by Treyarch, they made Call Of Duty 3 which i found to be one of the worst fps i had ever played. As much as this game looks interesting i think it will likely be very shit with Treyarch behind it.
Right on.

Treyarch have been given a liscence to produce CoD games while the proper developer is working on the next DECENT CoD game. All because the publisher wants 1 new CoD a year.

*EDIT* Woooo 100 posts

So CoD5 will be shit, CoD6 will be *the shit*, CoD7 shit, CoD8....oh you know where I'm going with this.
Nope, Infinity Ward are now the only team that can make COD games after COD 5. Unfortunatly - I liked COD's single player - but they made online too easy.

Well, but if CoD5 will be a major success, then things may change, don't you think?

It really depends on how the Russian campaign part of it turns out. (If there are no T-34s someone is going to pay)

Please look at ign.com and go to the co-op footage. Its really nice, and its original. Well except for the part that you hide behind tanks while mounted machine guns shoot them. But I really cannot wait for this to come out.
As for the treyarch (however it's spelled) developers, I personally think that they have learned from what they shat on and won't do it again. They aren't total idiots.
