It depends on the game. Some games have really good multiplayer, others have really good single player. But over all my games I tend to play both evenly.

Campaign as I currently don't have LIVE.

But multiplayer when I do.

I don't usually play multi-player very often. It has to be pretty good (like FarCry 2. Very immersive.)

I play almost RTS and FPS games exclusively. Those two genres are known for having shitty singleplayer and are also both known for being very competitive, so I play multiplayer more by far.

If the game has both, but is mostly centered around multiplayer, then the single player is just a way for me to get prepared for the multiplayer mode.

But that all just depends on which game. Like with Halo 3, I played through campaign and once I felt prepared, I jumped right into matchmaking.

Well, it depends on the game. Like Bioshock had a brilliant single player but the multiplayer just wasn't doing it for me. Opposite to Team Fortress 2 which has a really fun multiplayer, though the single player lacked too much depth for me to enjoy.

In a game like TF2...Multi player of course! I don't just run around listening to developer commentaries. But games like Fable 2 I just like to play on my own. No Co-op.

I can play the campaign a few times, but honestly, i'm a multiplayer addict. I have so much fun testing myself against other people.

Single Player aka Story mode aka Campaign
One of the reasons I play games is so I don't have to deal with real people, so playing multiplayer would defeat the purpose of that.
