I was wondering what the general consensus is, please comment and tell us why.
My vote goes to Capitalism, because imo if you say Communism, you haven't seen/been in a Communist country.

Communism works. In theory.

Capitalism works. In theory.

Both are shitty in reality, but at least Communism sounds better on paper.

Having a non corrupt communist society is like having a non broken candy cane. Everybody wants it but it's never going happen.

The whole communism in theory works is retarded. Even on paper people know people are greedy.

Noam Chomsky summed it up best by saying (paraphrased): "The question is pointless; 400 years ago it would have been 'what is the best form of feudalism'. 100 years from now, capitalism and democracy will not exist as they do today."

The key is to make each economic policy dynamic enough to help the people governed by it. All forms have the capacity to work or not work, often at the same time.

Furthermore, capitalism in New York looks way different from capitalism in rural Texas. Communism in the USSR was vastly different from communism in China, Vietnam, Albania, etc. In the end, to make a binary choice in such a complex issue cannot be wisely done.

Communism has been tried again and again and again and it JUST DOESN'T WORK! It's well intentioned but fundamentally flawed.

Communism! Seriously, it may not of worked for the other countries who tried it, but if you get honest leaders and slowly (slowly!) transistion the country, then shit'll be just fine.

Capitalism is morally unjustifiable.

They are not mutually exclusive!

Look at China, both Capitalist and Communist.

What you mean to ask is one of two possible questions.

(Pure) Capitalism or (Pure) Socialism = most would agree neither are quite right, a balance in between

OR

Democracy or Communism = most would agree that Democracy serves its people better, and is more effective.

In heaven, the angels follow the ideal of communism. (From each, to each)
In hell, the demons follow the reality of communism. (From all, to whomever is in charge)
On earth, we make do with capitalism.

First of all full communism has never been tried

Secondly as long as money exists then communism cannot survive (much like the NHS with it's fate being privatization, only a matter of time...)

Capitalism, but I'm working on a better system (which will probably involve a gift economy, hopefully, if I can convince people it's a good idea). For now I'll just plug the gaps with a Welfare State and a large Public Sector.

Either of them taken too far is shit, oppressive, corrupt and unjust. A capitalist society with integrated socialist principles is the way to go.

Wow, I did't expect the polls to be so balanced. For the record, I voted Capitalist, because I lived in a Communist country, and I can safely say it just doesn't bloody work.

Cuba would be a shining example of communism (and the only one) if other countries could give it resources without fear of America cutting them off -.-

I like the ideas of socialism, communism I'm kinda 'eeeeeehhh' about, just because I don't live my life to get ahead or get rich.
Capitolism I really don't like, the shift and change in power is so frequent, so jarring...but at least I'm allowed a little more freedom.
Democracy is about as realistic as socialism. Mainly because, it'll never work. There's too many people. Too many people alive to cater for, too many people not giving a shit and too many people are assholes.

So, I voted 'communism' only to even out the scale a bit :p

Communism.
Now be so kind and show me single country where Communism is working as intended.

Communism can work on smaller scales, but when you try to work it on a national scale, it falls apart and we get things like Stalin's Russia and Mao's China. Anyone notice that these ostensibly-Communist nations had heads of state who possessed impressive cults of personality?

I guess it boils down to the concept of human greed. Since everybody wants what they want, they fight back (consciously or not) in a system where they're given only what they "need." In the capitalist system, you can theoretically get whatever you want if you work to get it.

However capitalism is less shitty in reality.
