I would like to thank the Escapist staff for changing the Captcha to something that is not painful for a dyslexic to read and is also amusing to use.

DISCUSSION: What do you think of the new system and what funny things has it told you?

Captcha: hunky dory

I like the random phrase generator. It seems to be gaining self-awareness, and gets a bit creepy and clingy at times, but overall it's been much better than the random symbols that I used to get with the old Captcha system. Just gotta click through a few ads sometimes to get to the interesting bit.

I like the way you can pay a bit of money and not have to use it at all.

I think it's actually pretty cool.. though it gets creepy when the phrase seems to have a hint of sentience behind it. Really though, I was sold when it gave me a snippet of Batty's final speech in Blade Runner as a phrase I had to enter.

My only problem with it are the ads...specifically the ones that don't even ask you to type something, but rather to pick an answer.

No, Captcha, I don't fucking know which car has an act in Cirque du Soleil based around it!

I don't like the ads, but the system does seem to have a mind of it's own sometimes.

I once posted on a topic from the advice board and the Captcha read "Easy as cake"

I hate the ad ones. If those are gone then I'm happy, if they are still around then I will continue to get pissed off about Little fucking Caesar's.

Better than the old ones with the blurry text and hard to read letters. Kind of clever too as far as marketing is concerned, since the ad becomes interactive. It can also stop being clever when the all-new Chevy Sonic becomes associated with annoyance.
It's not like it takes too much of my time though, so it's fine.

I hate it. At least the previous ones were actually having some form of benefit to humanity by improving google maps & books. These ones seem more often & try to sell me crap I don't want.

The solvemedia ones are easy to read, I like that.

I think their ease of use however proves that captchas simply aren't necessary.

There are ads? All I've seen are weird catchphrases, which as has already been said, have a habit of being creepily relevant to the thread.
Personally, I think they're okay. Better than some I've seen, I can actually read these ones.

The best are the one's that let you "describe something in your own words". That vehicle is very pudding blanket stick.

I certainly prefer it to the old ones, and occasionally they can be quite amusing. I had 'wishy-washy' one time, and 'bee's knees' another. Sometimes what it says seems to relate to your post, then it's a little creepy.

I like them, easier to read.
I think I once answered an ad captcha with "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" and it accepted it. :D

Random phrase generator is much better than indecipherable text requiring you to enter Arabic symbols. And having a captcha like 'hot and spicy' while discussing sexual preferences in a thread is just funny in a way that shouldn't make me laugh as much as it does.

All in all, I approve, much less annoying than it was before.

I rarely get ones with ads and the captchas I do get are often so to the point that I can't help laughing. A big improvement over the previous ones.

Not a fan of these new ones, they aren't so easily sabotaged. With normal capcha you can have some fun, type in weird shit instead of one of the words. The new system is just boring.

Captcha = heart break

And it seems to have a mind of its own @ times.

You can slap your keyboard a few times and the Advertising Captcha will accept it. Seriously try it, I wish I was kidding. What's the point of having a security that accepts "rengsdzgtnasfhng" as an answer to an advert?
