Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd cute pic!!... Actually, no.

Do we need cash anymore? In the "first world", maybe? Actually... I don't know. In the next 10-15 years maybe? Maybe in the city where everything is accessible.

Tossed (what kind of *beep* name is that?), a healthy food store has gone cashless. No paper money, just contactless payment, Apple Pay, PayPal, whatever. Is this the way to go?

Which do you prefer? Does anyone miss cheques. Yes, I spelt it Cheques. Sue me, or is it just incorrect.

Tossed, the healthy eating food store?...

...

...

They must be experts at tossing salads!! :D hahahahaaha...

I'll grab my coat.

I'm already 99% cashless.

The only regular cash transaction I make these days is paying my martial arts instructor for lessons since he travels between several gyms/dojos and can't exactly carry an eftpos machine around with him. (Well, I suppose he could get a wireless one, something like what they use in taxis, but that seems like more trouble than it's worth.)

Mostly cashless. I do like having some cash on me, though. Never know where you're going to make a transactions with another non-business citizen, or need to load someone a few bucks.

Almost always cashless, but I've always got a bit of money on me in case shit doesn't work/don't have it/minimum spend on cards. It's just quicker now with contactless payments.

Let put it this way.

The swipe card at work machine was broken one day to the point they had to put a sign up that it wasn't working (if it was a wifi problem, it would be back up in a few minutes or at least an hour) and that pretty much messed several people up (or just too lazt to go to the nearest cash machine). Before you asked how it was fixed, turned out one of the cable came loose inside the network panel.

As for me, I prefer cash for some reason.

Cash-less all the way.
Visa/dan-card(swiping, scanning, or sort of physical interaction involving the card), mobilepay(transfer money on smartphone via phone numbers), contact-less card(scanning through wireless chip inside the card), multiple smartphone-enabled options of payment... There's barely any reason to carry physical cash around anymore.
Still carry 50DKK in my pocket "just-in-case", but for the last 3-4 years, I haven't needed it once.

I carry about 40 quid in cash. Its my I can spend on whatever money. The problem with cashless it's hard to track how much you have spent on small things. If buy a loaf of bread 2 pints of milk that kind of transaction tends to drift from my mind. e I know how much money I have in my wallet so I track how much money I have spent that week.

Cash. Almost exclusively. I like being able to deal with people who don't carry around credit card scanners, I like not leaving an easily traceable record of every transaction I ever make, and my country's "Know Your Customer" laws mean that a bank can't legally even let you open a checking account without a social security number.

I do appreciate how blatantly Orwellian they're being about it, though.

I probably should convert to cashless, but i'm paranoid, so actually physically having the cash and knowing what's going on with it is kinda comforting. With a card, any number of things could be happening to my money, i don't have that feeling of thin or thick wallet to let me know what's going on with my money, so i could easily overspend cashless.

So i guess cashless is better, but I'm not personally responsible enough for it.

I prefer cash personally, simply because it's easier to keep track of your money. Just get a set amount from your bank account and you won't accidentally buy more than you can afford if you stop buying once that runs out.

I would much prefer everywhere to function without cash. It's usually just a minor irritation if somewhere doesn't take card, because I rarely carry cash.

Hello NSA
Cash. Partially Cashless at times only because of huge online purchases. At minimum at any time I always have a twenty and a two on me, because Jackson will cover my ass for emergency buysand beat the shit out of attackers and because two dollar bills, along with Jefferson, are good luck to me.

I like to stick with cash as much as possible. I don't like the idea that someone could track every payment I make with ease. I'm not really that paranoid, but I do prefer the feeling of paying in cash.

Have you ever played one of these new versions of monopoly that just have cards and no cash? It's nowhere near as fun.

Cash. Banks here charge you for making more than a certain (small) number of debit transactions a month and I have never owned a credit card.

They do what now? Is that even legal? That seems like abusing the system there.

Yep, that's what you get when three quarters of the last two decades have been conservative governments that like to fellate the banks and property developers. And yet, supposedly the banks need LESS regulation. So we can be "competitive" or some such bullshit.

Huh. And I just watched this video today, which is perfect for this thread:
If you insist on using plastic for everything, make sure you're at least using a credit card, not a debit card. Here in the states it's much more of a hassle to get money back into your bank account.

I never carry cash around because I tend to have a bit of trouble on the streets sometimes. I also keep an expired dummy card in the main visible spot of my wallet and keep my actual card in a hidden pocket. So I pay mostly with card.
