Both cats and dogs are awesome, although I love cats a fraction more. They get me, you get me?
I'd like a dog but they're so damn expensive, and I can't walk it as much as I'd like.
Also cats don't slobber all over you and lick your face, ewww. I know it's their way of kissing you or whatever but they put that tongue in their arses.

Mine are usually little bastards because they don't like each other. Get one on their own and they'll purr happily and sit on my knee.
Saying that, one of my neighbours nasty ginger kitties backed my girl into a corner an was hissing and spitting at her. My boy ran out, jumped on it's back and started clawing at it's head and attacking it. I wouldn't say they were exactly stupid and unloyal.

Cats have one purpose, dogs have another (or many, many others depending on the breed)... if you're just keeping one for a house pet, I feel sorry for the poor thing. That goes for dogs and cats.

Also, a lot of cats drool. Sometimes it's a sign of infection, but in some cats it's just another way of expressing themselves.

The only time I would ever consider a cat being better or superior to a dog is if said cat was a Lion, Cheetah, or Tiger. Anything else, they suck dogs are better.

Bias poll is bias...

Cats don't even understand cause and effect [http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2009/jun/16/psychologist-test-outsmarts-cats], so they're not at as intelligent as cat owners imply ¬_¬
Isn't a sample of the size 15 a bit small to be conclusive?

That said, I can't stand most dogs. They make me feel uncomfortable...or irritate me...or make me uncofmortably irritated...

Because I already speak to another thread about this.............I am not saying that cats are evil spawns of hell trying to conquer the world and feed with our poor souls..........but I can say definitely say the cats when they grow up they are major assh*les.
I had a cat once and I love her so much like a foolish kid I was.
Until one day my cat decided to leave me to find other peoples to find food for her own party.
Yeah she broked my heart.......
that all.

I live with three cats, and I love them all, but when I move out and if I want to find a pet of my own, I always thought I'd want a husky.

Or malamutes or whatever they're called.
My mom's got a husky. She's freakin' adorable. Huskies are really energetic/playful though, and persistent. So unless you happen upon a strangely mellow one, you'd better be up to dealing with it. :D It seems like every time none of us are in the mood to play, that's all she can think to do.

OT: I've had dogs and cats my whole life. I'm split 50-50.

In my experience, both dogs and cats are kind of derpy.

Ponies!

I mean, cats, for me.
So lovely and adorable. Also never asks/demands that I "must" go out with them during rainy weather.

Of course I am a bit (a lot) biased due to only having cats during my early childhood. One of them even guarded me when I was laying in the pram, whining and being all "I will murder you if you get any closer" against strangers. Even while my mom went out for a walk with me.

Cats care, they even bring me dead / half-dead animals as gifts! I'm sure their heart is in the right place.

Dogs 4 Life! I suppose if I want the chores of owning an animal without getting the love in return, then I'll get a cat! Until that day, give me my puppy dog!
I find it hard to believe because I leave for only 5 minutes I have a dog running around me like I've been gone for years. They are just attention whores.

I like cats (and ferrets) more. I personally don't like the barking, and have problems with training dogs because of it. I can deal with biting and scratching much easier.

My cat who passed away last winter was my companion as much as many dogs are. She would come greet me when I got home and go to walks with me, and sleep next to me when I was working on my computer.

Can you train a cat to start wildly humping other people's legs on command? No, you can't and therefore cats are shit.
Fair point. However, cats will provide you half-eaten mice and birds that you can leave inside other people's mail-boxes.

Huh, this thread has reached two pages and no-one seems to have posted this yet, maybe I missed it somewhere but I'll post it anyway:

2:16 is probably my favourite bit.

I actually prefer small, smart dogs to other dogs or any type of cat because some of them reach my level of intelligence they're just more responsive in my opinion.

Actually my old cat would hump legs. It wasn't on command but it was still funny seeing peoples reactions when it happened to them.

And the cat I have now licks people like...all the time. Gotta say it's kinda relaxing to be woken up by a cat purring and licking your face.

Sorry, I thought this was common knowledge, we cats are superior to humans and dogs. Is there LOLdogs? No. Were cats worshipped by the egyptians? Yes

*goes back to sleep*
This is all the proof I need. How can you look at that face and say no?

It lacks certain subtlety.
Think about it. If you find a dead cat in your mailbox, you know some psycho is screwing with you.
But if one would to place something smaller (like a mouse or a roach) between the newspaper or letters, it would take the victim longer, usually (in my experience) until they get home before they'd notice it, making them unsure where it came from in the first place.

Unless you are trying to be specifically threatening (in which case the classic horse-head in bed would work better) making the victim uncertain whether someone is tormenting them is so much better.

What's to be subtle about? I was just returning what was left of their mangy moggies.

To torment neighbours I used a sub-sonic wave generator.

You dog isn't being very helpful, then. If everything, it's more work for you. Plus you need to make sure you return the right bloody mess to the right people...

I mean, returning a dead loved one your pet killed to a wrong person can be so awkward.

Why would a cat lower itself to fetching?
Lower itself? Cats will not allow those worthless craven dogs to be better at anything than they!
The facts are these:
Dogs live about 15 years.
Cats can live to be 20~30 easily.
Dogs will lick your face.
Cats will also lick your face.
Dogs and cats lick their butts frequently.
Dogs will crap on your carpet without a thought.
Cats will risk it's life in a hurricane before they'll crap outside of the litterbox in the house.
Dogs will settle down next to you and do nothing.
Cats will settle down next to you and purr.
Dogs will eat anything, including stuff that will kill them.
Cats will almost never eat anything dangerous.
Dogs will want to play constantly.
Cats can entertain themselves.
Dogs will not kill vermin.
Cats will kill vermin.
Dogs will be trained to do anything with little real effort.
Cats train YOU. Not even in Soviet Russia do you train cats.
Dogs do not like to take baths.
Cats WILL NOT take baths...EVER.
Dogs get dirty and spread it around the house.
Cats get dirty and then clean themselves.
Dogs are awesome and affectionate.
Cats are even more awesome and affectionate.
(On second thought, those last 2 facts may have been subject to bias from the researcher.)

'Dogs will not kill vermin'

Despite several dog breeds existing that do just that ¬_¬
