Ok, so my final senior exams are coming. There's months till the first one.
The thing the bothers me is that most of my classmates are planning to cheat. And they are only relying on cheating to pass. They have proven to be capable of learning and passing an exam 4 years ago, when they needed over 87% to get into my(their too) High school.
They are planning to cheat because they are lazy to learn(we've still got exactly 31 days till the first test).
I just don't get them.
+ If they get caught they fail, and have to take the exams again next year(and repeat the entire last high school year), and they won't be able to get into College(and trust me every one of these guys wants to go to College)
What's even more insane is that this one guy, the top student of the school, who is planning to go to Oxford University(to get in, he only needs to pass these final exams, he already has a scholarship and everything), is thinking about cheating, too. I mean should he be caught he'll lose everything! How can he be so stupid to even consider cheating?!

Now for the discussion: What are your thoughts on cheating at exams(not quizzes or test, but once-in-your-life, need-to-pass exams)?

Just out of curiosity how do they intend on cheating? There?s usually invidualators walking around checking everyone. And I think you should inform a teacher or someone involved with the exam on the day so they all get caught and you can lol@them.

Never, the only time i cheated, i got the teachers permission, yes, believe it (she didnt know she gave me permission, i asked to use my TI84 [graphing/programmable calculator] on my spelling quiz, and i stored all the answers in it)
It was funny, but i never did it again(i would have gotten an A on it w/o the calculator anyways)

If I could, I would cheat with no hesitation, but it's simply not worth the risk.
Quite appart from that exams are there to try and make you prove that you know the material and you understand the principals. Cheating just gets you nothing out of it. I'm a guy who was top of my class untill the exams came around; I don't know what it was, probably to do with my interpretation of the questions, but I performed well below average. I was bitter and I was angry, frustrated, but if told me right now a foolproof way of cheating I still wouldn't. I'd never be able to live with myself.

You're only cheating yourself, haha.

I think that its okay to cheat on exams that don't matter. I did when I could. But for ones that actually have an important implication, like what school or program you get into, cheating is idiotic.

Well I allowed people to cheat of me at my final exams, Don't care if they don't learn anything from it.

If I would cheat myself? probably if I'm honest.

I think it's stupid as hell. You should point this out to them.

The role of the smart is to lead the stupid.

Cheating is stupid in almost all things.
I'm not talking all guns and infinite ammo in GTA, because it has no effect on others.

But even in simple mid semester quizes, it's not fair. If say, Mary-Sue, was the "top of the class" it could be that she needs to see her score being the best in the class to feel good. Thus, she puts in the effort. If you take that from her for no reason other than "I can.", you're effectively stealing.
Beyond that, it's not your place to rank higher than anyone else unless you deserve it.

Cheating is just the same as any form of dishonesty, if you cheat you're just as bad as a theif or liar in my eyes.

I'm glad to see that others feel the same way as me. Even if not for the same reasons.
