the question is do you cheat in games or do you only do it when you are stuck or fully played the game.

I only cheat in the following situations:
-I've beaten a puzzle or similar obstacle in the past and have forgotten how to do it
-The game is really fucking hard
-I could care less about the story, gameplay, puzzles, etc.
-I've beaten the game and am looking for entertainment

Otherwise, cheating only harms the cheater.

I usually cheat when I have grown bored and must raise my godlike prowess to super godhood.
Sometimes it's fun, like chucking 25 satchel charges onto one dude in Saints Row 2, and then detonating... It's like, Christmas....
Or in any PC game with the console and "~npc_kill" or similar commands!

I love messing with the gravity gun physics.

i made a mod for oblivion for a super sword that was really fun i killed a city in less than 20 sec the sword had range attack and it let explode everyone it was just fun and mine armor had 200% damaged reflection so if some one attacked me than they killed them self.

Only do it for fun.

Such as spawning Tanks in GTA games.
Or making hordes in L4D consist of over a million zombies and creating 4 miniguns to fend them off with

I don't consider cheating fun. I play single-player for the most part, so if I were to resort to cheating, it would just mean I couldn't beat the AI. And that's pretty pathetic. I go out of my way to avoid guide books and manuals, too, especially the first run through. If it's the second time I've played, I may check a walkthrough to make sure I've done all possible quests, since I'm one of those freaks angling for 100% completion. But really, where's the fun in cheating?

And I see people here mention in modding, but it doesn't sound like anyone's using the cheat mods to then beat the game...just to rampage for a moment. Is it really cheating then? (I have a console, my poor PC can't handle games, so I'm pretty much out of modding for a while.) It sounds similar to me saving my game in GTA, killing everyone in sight before driving my car off the bride á la "Alias" and reloading to finish the mission. I don't really gain anything from it but a mindless stress release, and it never contributes to the way I finish the game. So...is it cheating?

The only cheating I'll do is when I 've beat the game to make it more fun though in Psychonauts case the cheats aren't nessary to beat the game but save you a shitload of time and frustration.

i only use glitches in most games, but in games like GTA and saints row, i use cheats after I've completed it.
but if i see a glitch, i count it as part of the game, not as a cheat

Since the introduction of achievements and trophies, very few games actually seem to have cheats anymore

Only when I'm stuck. I like to follow the stories of games, so sometimes I'll just glide through a game as an all powerful being just to see where it gets me.

I can't recall the last time I cheated, to be honest.
I think it was in Fallout 3.

I only cheat after i've beaten a game. Otherwise if i get to a challenging bit
it takes an enourmous amount of self restraint to not cheat again.
But some times i say i'll do a little cheat. Then i tell my self you've
already cheated time to go nuts.

In most games I avoid cheating but if it's an old PS1/N64 game and I'm just messing around then I might turn infinate ammo or God mode on just for giggles ('I just kicked a 25ft tall, rocket wielding abomination to death! WOOOOOOOO!').

I only cheat when I have completed a game, or completed it to the extent which I think is possible. For instance, I don't think I will ever be able to achieve 100% on Guitar Hero 3, but I've completed the game on expert once through, so I don't really mind cheating just to extend the life span of the game.

Boredom or im stuck

But some games act back at cheaters like data corruption the time they save.
