Because the government insists on being a good big brother, other info will likely be added in the future. Things such as diagnosed mental disorders, medication they are using, body mass index so if someone is fat for too long the government can intervene. Orwells lessons have gone unheeded.

Pretty sure diagnosed mental disorders is on the list as well, as it's supposed to make it easier to have co-ordinated services for children. And if you haven't heard of the NIR (aka National Identity Register or the ID database) which is supposed to store data from everyone, that (if it ever gets made) is also going to consist of fingerprints, DNA and iris scans.

Also interestingly, whilst Labor are full on in for the whole children database, The Conservatives are actually standing against it.

Well its good to see conservatives acting like conservatives. That is to say opposing a new bad idea. Its a shame that most people don't see how these programs can be abused. The British government seems determined to play god. Big brother cameras everywhere, which with this NIR and facial recognition software could be used to track peoples movements and who they associate with. Therefore if your friend is on some government watch list for being a criminal or member of a group of undesireables YOU could be harrased/abused by the government.

There was an article posted recently on kids being hired by the govt to spy on neighbors for minor infractions. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/2689996/Children-aged-eight-enlisted-as-council-snoopers.html This will promote a climate of fear.

Also your laws are anti self defense. You can't even carry pepper spray. Criminals show little fear of breaking into houses.

All this plus high taxes too. Maybe some of you can rationalize all this but from my perspective England is becoming a less pleasant place to live.

I wouldn't worry about the NIR right now, as it is only in planning currently and would take so long and cost so much that there's very little chance of it actually being designed. It was only an idea Tony Blair came up with several years ago but hasn't got put into production up to this point.
