Ok i looked but couldn't see this thread anywhere so i it's been done my humblest apologies.

Me and Redrosekay have just been asked to be godparents to our friends little child when born, if it's a boy they are going to use my first name as its middle name, and i am absolutely over the moon about it, so my question is this, what is your opinion on children generally, not just whether you want them or not?

Children can be both a source of delight and laughter as well as frustration and extremely tiring to deal with. But as a general rule I've seen that most children are fun and lovable, prone to mishaps though they might be. I've yet to see a well raised child intentionally seek to cause harm or destroy something and those that do need plenty of good hugs despite their protests. A child is one of the most precious things one can have in this world, my cousins child has taught me that.

I want to have children of my own one day, when I find myself a better half.

I generally don't like kids, given how they're prone to misbehaving and acting like little brats. And I also have a lot of things that I don't want touched for fear of them being broken, and for the most part, they're things that children would get their sticky little hands all over (comics, old action figures, tabletop RPG manuals, old consoles).

Plus, I can't imagine what having a selfish, antagonistic, condescending s-o-b like me for a father (or godfather, or uncle, etc.) would do to the poor kid's psyche.

Not a bad trait at all, being approachable and liked by the little Duracell-bunnies they tend to be.

Honestly, sometimes I look in wonder at how energetic children can be.

i couldn't agree more, i get knackered just watching half of them, they constantly mess around for half an hour, then they rest for 30 seconds and off they go again!

I have got young brothers and sisters coming out my ears (a 2-yr old sister, a 6-yr old sister, a 1-yr old sister and a 10-yr old brother, along with a 14-yr old sister, a 17-yr old brother and a 20-yr old sister), and I love them all. Small children are highly entertaining and extremely loveable, but I have come to the conclusion that I am not interested in having children of my own, ever. Now I am only 22, so this may change, especially since not having children is to reject the most fundamental instinct of our species. Hopefully, though, my resolution will hold firm.

Incidentally, I used to detest children. If one so much as touched me it would send shivers down my spine, and I used to fantasise about holding children by their feet and smashing their heads against the nearest hard surface. That was when I was a child myself, and I am very pleased to report that I no longer experience this kind of disgust when confronted by little 'uns.

even if you don't want kids theres no reason to say you can't practise the nature of creation ;P

I like most of them and wouldn't mind to have a kid once I get into a stable relationship.
