I'm at a slight impasse and I wanna surprise my boyfriend with something good. And looking through our game collection, we are missing Earthbound for the SNES. Now I love Earthbound with all my heart, but he hasn't played it yet apart from a little bit with an emulator.
So I hop onto eBay, and I've found one for $70 with $10 shipping. So my rationalization is that it will be pretty much like buying a brand new game here. Do I go for it? Or is this potentially a "bowling ball" gift? He does love RPGs (other options were to go for the original Chrono Trigger or original Final Fantasy VI), but he's never actually played through Earthbound.
I don't want to get it for him only to have him not play through it, especially since he has a giant backlog of games to go through (as do I). Granted when I bought Final Fantasy Origins (whichever was the stripped down version) for him, he did play that til he finished it, because he loved it when he was a kid. But games like Banjo-Tooie have been untouched.
