I'm super thrilled over Cities XXL coming out really soon, and I'll probably buy it, since I liked Cities XL Platinum, and here's hoping its multi-core support won't be a hot air balloon. I suppose there'll be bugs in the beginning, since this is the age of releasing buggy stuff and fixing it as soon as they can get around to it.

Still, can't wait.

On the other hand, Cities: Skylines is not in the family of being riddled with bugs and poor optimising, afaik (I haven't played any of the earlier Cities-games, mind). This time around, it's more of a competitor against Cities XXL, where the earlier games were spin-offs of Transport Tycoon (funnily enough that game exists to this day).

I'll definitely be trying both, I love this kind of management sim, and I was a fan of TT in my youth. What about you guys? Will the Cities XXL lineage of single core-only gameplay deter you from trying this new installment? Or will you reject it and just wait for Skylines?

I'm looking for some opinions, pro's and cons. I know they're not out yet, but there's some lineage involved.

looking briefly at cities skylines (its the first news i've heard about it) it does look interesting but i'll hold out on it

cities XXL however is a rather tricky one, the 50% off is a very nice incentive however the last two games are pretty unplayable, they've had a huge problem of memory leaking thus forcing you to abandon your city after 30 minutes of playing

i might preorder XXL and if its broken at launch i'll get a refund from steam (depends really on how serious its problem are)

Yeah, I find it strange that they weren't able to/unwilling to fix the memory leak problems. I'm hoping it'll be remedied with this version, that it's not just another rehash of earlier games in the same, broken engine.

I'm a fair bit more interested in Skylines than XXL.

I might try both, if given the chance, but, skylines looks more interesting to me.

the problem was that the first company went bankrupt and was bought out by another, they then released a second game with minor updates and no fixes
