Civ 4 and 5 are much more polished than warlock.

That said, i do like Warlock as it is a lot more hectic than Civ 5 and you are not stuck for 100+ turns just going through the motions like in Civ 5 (seriously once you get artillery you might as well just stop playing).

But yea, Warlock needs some work. As it is you get to turn 110-130 and you get bored
Instead of an army, I drop nuclear bombs in Civ5. xD
Anyway, I only picked Warlock because it's the only one I've played out of the two. That, and it's probably as close to Master of Magic as I can get to playing on my computer. :/
Run MOM within DOSBOX. The box is free. This should always work.

If you cannot stand the MCGA graphics of MOM, then the closest thing to MOM is Age of Wonders Shadow magic.
I've tried that and it says that it isn't compatible.
Are you getting a DOSBOX error or is MOM printing the error in the box?
The second one.
Curious. MOM shouldn't give any trouble(other than the normal in-game glitches). Have you checked the Dosbox.conf file? Are ums=true and ems=true under the [dos] header?
Checking under [cpu] for core=simple or core=normal may also help.
Maybe it's also a good idea to run the install again, for the MOM setup. Start with something simple like selecting a SB pro soundcard and save.

I've never played or even heard of the other before now, but Civ IV, always Civ IV. But just get the add ons, they make it better and then there are loads of mods.

Also...why didn't you get the complete pack? It's usually only a fraction more expensive than the complete game and you get Warlords and Beyond the Sword and whatever other offical expansions there might have been. Then Download patch 3.19 and after you've got to grips with it get rise of Mankind and New Dawn mods.
Well the Civ IV isn't mine I just found it lying aroun the house. That is why I don't have any of the expansions.

Ah, fair enough. In that case I'd suggest keeping it and just save your money to spend on something else. If you have to give it back then make sure you get the complete edition if you buy it for yourself, the few extra £/$/whatever are well worth it, the expansions iron out various bugs and imbalances add new stuff and the latest patch and mods are made for the Beyond the Sword Expansion so it gives you a lot more access to running mods.

I would recommend Rise of Mankind and New Dawn, I forget which versions, the ones on the above page are out of date, however, having had a look at that page I see a new mod titled caveman to cosmos added 10th july this year which is apparently the "spiritual successor" to Dawn and Rise, So I'll be downloading that and losing another few weeks of my life.

Well it isn't mine but I don't have to give it back. It is my dad's and he has civ V to play. I will probably get beyond the sword on amazon when I have some money.
