Usually for something like Team Fortress 2 I play what's needed (usually scout, pyro, medic or spy) otherwise I play what I want to play (usually scout.)

I am pretty bad at managing spells and all those buffs and what not, so I mostly just play as a tank when given the option. Put everything into strength\endurance and weapon specialties and then I'm good to go.

I'm the exact opposite. Put as few points as possible into weapon skills, strength, endurance and what have you, and as much as possible into Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma. For me, most of the fun is managing buffs, making sure people are protected and kept at full health, and let them do the unavoidable killing for me. I'm a healer at heart and absolutely love it. (Probably the kind of character every group wants in an MMORPG, hence I'm quite popular for grouping with, and am happier for it. )

On a side note, I always find it fascinating how people can be so different and yet work well together, and that it all somehow works out in a game like TF2, where I'll play Medic, Sniper or Engineer, but others may choose something else. It's the beauty and the wonder of a multiplayer game, and it will never stop to fascinate me

I tried support roles before, it didn't work out so well. I'm not a support role kinda guy.

Guild Wars, my favourite characters are my PVP anti warrior Needler Ranger, who does massive damage, my semi tank PVE Assassin with massive AoE damage and my Dervish with massive damage and...

For me, nothing is more satisfying than watching an enemy shrivel from and 8-foot-tall muscly behemoth to a 4-foot-tall scrawny imp to be stepped on.
I especially like to imagine the player's reaction as he watches all of his precious buffs and enhancements swirl away down the drain.

Best class imo is melee damage-dealers, but not those stealthy guys, i can't stand them, so something like a barbarian or a warrior. I don't mind tanking when needed, but if given a choice, dps all the way.

Stealth primarily in most games. And more recently...well, what the hell would TF2's Scout fall under? Been playing less Spy and Demo, more Scout, it's fun. In my RPGs and MMOs I almost always play stealth first, then try the other stuff. Almost never a healer, bores me stupid. That's what the boyfriend is for, I can make him heal me and I get to make stuff die, weeeeeee~
