This is an idea for a game I got, not the most original idea but all together it could be very cool. This isnt done yet so post what you think so far.

Adventure Realm (Title WIP)

In the game Adventure Realm it is a 1 to 4 player CO-OP online RPG/offline RPG. First you begin out as making one of four classes, Warrior, Thief, Archer, Mage. After picking a classes and fully customizing your character you begin out doing a class specific mission.

For Warrior, you begin out waking up in the middle of a battlefield after almost dying and once enemies see you up begin charging at you. After all the enemies are dead another warrior comes up to you and pulls you away and tells you that you are being told to retreat. Then the rest of the mission Is you retreating to the city heaven, Vienal.

Then it is the Thief?s starting mission if you choose the class. It starts out with your character landing over a wall and landing in grass. Your mission is that you have been hired to assassinate the head of a group of bandits that have their dirty hands in royal affairs and politics. In the mission you use the element of sneaking and using shadows to lurk around and kill without being noticed. Once you kill the bandit leader you must escape without anyone noticing the death of their leader. After escaping if you are successful you get back to Vienal and hand in the mission.

If you chose Archer then the starting mission begins with you in a jungle hunting a monster known as the Charuca. In the mission you can use the element of laying traps and luring the monster into the trap and then killing it, or just go all out, standing on a tree branch and then sniping the Charuca with your bow. Then once the monster dies you pick up what you need from it and head back to Vienal to give it to a chief who is going to cook it.

Lastly there is the mage. The Mages mission is that you have been hired to take out a monster that has been attacking towns recently and you find out it is in a cave, and you need to go into the cave to go in and kill it. But when you get far into the cave you couldn?t find it and then head out of the cave back to the village to see it attacking and then you fight it in a burning village. After killing the monster and saving the village you leave and head back to the Mages Guild in Vienal.

In Vienal (or the lobby town)

Vienal will be the lobby that you can get in groups with other players to get help on missions or trade, also in the middle of the town is a pvp (player vs. player) arena that players can go and partake in the fighting or bet and watch others fight (tournaments will also be held.) Once you are in Vienal you can do anything you want to even own your own home or castle that players in the same Guild or friends can go over to and chat and also fight against each other in practice.

Missions

In Vienal their will be a Mission House that players can get missions from and then above the characters head will be the words ?Mission: Such and such, players ¼? or depending on how many players can be in the mission also players can have it saying ?Looking for Group for mission: such and such.?

Missions will be based on Level and Mission Rank. Like you may be level 30 but you cant do the level 30 mission because its Mission Rank is 5 and yours is 4. Also Missions will also sometimes be Class Specific and other might be not class specific but might require a cretin class to accompany you. Like a warrior wouldn?t be able to do the Co-op thief?s mission with them. Missions will range from killing an amount of monsters to gather to assassination to protecting a fortress or someone who needs a ride and protection to a city.

Leveling and Mission Ranks

The game will have seventy levels and twenty Mission Ranks, exp is given from enemies in missions and Mission Rank exp is given from how well you do the mission. Example: a thief does a mission and never gets caught would get a lot of mission rank exp while the thief who got caught a lot wouldn?t get as much.

Money and Equipment

Money will be gained from doing missions and stealing (stealing though is only for thief?s but their equipment will cost more.) Buying equipment will be the only way of getting gear, and Gear can be modified with getting money and the looks of the armor can be customize so people can have their own look. The money currency is Eln.

Combat

Combat will be real time with stamina, if your Stamina runs out you must stop and wait for it to go back up. So strategy will be somewhat necessary. The combat will require you to run around and use cover. If two players swords or other weapons strike at the same time it will become a stance of who can press the X button the fastest. This will also happen in PvE (player vs. environment) blood marks and slash marks will be apparent in armor and if a arrow hits you it will stay until removed (by a healer in the town and armor repaired by the blacksmith.)

If you think you can make it work, give it a try. Though I am disappointed this isn't an RPG set inside a Co-Op.

seems like a really nice idea, is it 3rd person as in Gothic 3 or First Person as in Oblivion or is it overhead like in WoW?

I loved Gothic 3!

-Query- if it went well in an FPSrpgesque game like Borderlands, then in a TRUE RPG it could get awesome!

You should try Gothic 2 or Risen they are slightly more linear then Gothic 3 but they are way more fun to play :]

Looks like a good start, the first two origin stories seemed original but you seemed to give up for the last two, they seem quite generic imo.
