This is the story of the Cod Wars - a story that developers such as infinity ward and Treyarch doesn't want the public to know... A war that has its roots in over a century ago. It is a dark and terrible secret that only a few know today. It was the real CoD Wars that raged on in the northern seas in the span of decades. At the world's edge an age old conflict was reawakened in the Atlantic during the height of the Cold War...

A massive struggle involving superpowers over their supremacy in the northern seas. The struggle even pulled in the attention of NATO, which after a threat they could not refuse had one of its senior members back-down from their demands and concede defeat. An epic and bloody engagement between warships and sailors over the lives and livelihood for thousands of people.

It was aptly named "The Cod Wars", a struggle between Denmark - and later Iceland, against the British Crown for... Cods.

What should we do in response to this blatant cover-up by the developers?
Should we sit idly by while decades of violent struggle is erased by a single gaming franchise?
How can we ignore this bloody war that saw the death of so many fish?

Please, discuss this in the thread.

Always remember....

I salute you Cod.

I salute you because your sacrifice allows me to have great fish and chips.

Oh, and some people that happened to fight so I can eat you.

Delicious British snack food must be preserved and remembered. We cannot allow this to continue - memorial ceremonies must be made in schools across the nation to remember the men and women who died for this delicious treat.

CoD: Almost-modern,-a-fair-few-decades-ago-now-but-still-fairly-recent Warfare

Barely a day goes by that I eat my chippy tea without thinking of the great soldiers who risked their lives to stop the vile oppression of the Evil Icelandic Empire.

Remember, Remember, the Cod Wars,
For it gives us Fish&Chips,
and keeps the Icelandic at bay.

Then should we demand the companies to change the name of Call of Duty so the Cod Wars could be honored?

LOL!

Yes a great empire with a military that consisted of 4 guys at the time of that war, with fishermen shooting blanks out of shotguns at British battleships.

But seriously as an Icelander I would not be offended by the title of that game, at least the kids would find a laugh or two in the history books.

I don't really like fish and chips all that much.

I don't like the series but I don't see why they should change their name over fish.
