I am a huge fan of the modern warfare games, and I've been racking my brains for ages and i can't decide which one i like more. Also note I am a PC gamer.
Both of them had a great story that really made me feel attached to the characters, although i felt more engaged in mw2 and that was probably why i beat the game in one sitting, but that also pissed me off... I beat the game in six and a half hours on hardened. I do like short games but come on! But! I hear you say, their are the co-op missions to add another 2-3 hours of game-play, well i hate them! Not because they're bad, but because i don't have anyone to play with, none of my friends own this game, which means i would have to play with some random sap half-way across the country. No fuck that! Now onto the multiplayer... I was blown away when i first played cod4, it hooked me in and i believe that on my first encounter with it I didn't get off for about 5-6 hours, and i still play it... more that 2 years later! The maps are so well designed that you can use just about any weapon on any map and since i love sniping, this was absolutely perfect. While on the other side mw2's maps feel a little off, i don't quite know how to explain it, they just feel shit! And with no dedicated servers and much shorter games and that make a round feel more like taking a nibble out of a block of chocolate, when what you actually want is a nice solid bite! Well they've definitely added a lot more depth, so many more weapons, attachments, camouflage, perks, killstreaks, deathstreaks, and customizable 'player ID'. Which is all well and good, but unless you play all day and night you're never going to finish them all, especially when you add prestige mode, it makes it feel a little overwhelming. Don't get me wrong i love both games, i just can't see which ones better, another thing i dislike about mw2 is the secondary weapons, i prefer having a pistol all the time and i want to be able to have a grenade and some claymores when I'm sniping, yes i actually can't believe they only give you one claymore or c4 and it also takes away your grenade. What The Fuck!? The thing is with mw2 they have taken cod4 and split it in half, gently shinning one half to perfection and absolutely skull fucking the other side. Oh well...
