A murder of crows, a parliament of owls, a gaggle of geese. I'm sure you've heard all these before. They're fairly common in the English language, for all they can be wildly obscure.

The above poll is an offer of suggestions for an Escapist collective noun. That way, the Sydney Meet up (shameless plug) becomes a ____ of Escapists. Pick your favoured term.

Brunk[y] - adj The smell of autumn leaves.
Crook - n A bent or curved place or thing. A dishonest person.
Scathe - adj Harshly critical.
Babble - n To disclose sounds carelessly.
String - n Thin chord or twine.
Coslicism - n An emulation of realistic yet fantastical Egotism, or super hero complex. See also, Doublethink
Hive - n A busy place with many people.
Bastion - n A thing or person regarded as defending a way of life.

Babble, because it's awfully close to "rabble," which would then be a fairly accurate description.

Bastion. Have you ever felt the need to defend your way of thinking, or your very way of life to a Non-Escapist?

No, I pretty much shut up about anything Internet related.

I'm going to go with Scathe. Most people here are pretty critical.

I really like Bastion.

I've never heard it before so its full of mystery and danger. Just like The Escapist!

I voted Bastion, just because it sounded the coolest. I know, such a thought process.

Back when I worked in a comic shop and people would come in for gaming night Many of them were discussing murder of crows, conspiracy of ravens, and a troop of Gorillas, etc. They said out loud what are we?
I said to them suddenly out of nowhere "A Tragedy of Nerds"

So I vote "Tragedy" since we're all here cuz we hopelessly love video games and talking about of them which is nerdy.

But given those excellent choices my vote goes to 'Hive' i've always aspired to be part of a hive.

Bastion is a little too self rightious and pretentious for my tastes.

What how can hive be losing? Who doesn't want to be part of the HIVE? Brimming together in a tumult of aimless direction. Acting as one cacophonous voice in an organized chaotic mess?

I don't get you people sometimes.

I think 'babble' is appropriate.

I love being here, but damn the Escapists can be a wordy bunch. But it is not necessarily a bad thing.

I like. I like a lot.

The best word would be Coslicism, but it doesn't have the same ring as "Babble".

Read any thread at all with the words "Wii" or "Nintendo" in the title, and you'll realise why I voted Scathe.

Seriously, it's the reason I don't come here nearly as often as I used to.
