With more and more games having "Collector's Editions" with physical merchandise, do these publishers really believe consumers will shell out their hard earn (and someone else's) money for impractical junk?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as the night-vision goggles, and Batman: Arkham Asylum will come with a 14-inch Batarang (among other things); and now it's be revealed that Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will have an Army helmet and dog-tag to go with it. And let's not forget Fallout 3's lunchbox and bobble-head, and Halo 3's severed, shrunken head of Master Chief [insert dry laughter].
What I want to know is how far will this go? Will we see a life-sized, posable statue of Samus for Metroid Zero Prime Fusion 6: The Search for Metroids?
But I guess one could look at this as a testament of fandom; a reward for dedication toward your favorite franchise, while damning the economic status.
I for one will be getting the Collector's Edition for Batman, because I am that much of a Bat-fan to do that. That's just me.
