I always thought it depended on where you lived. I spell it as "colour", and I'm pretty sure most other Canadians do, but most Americans spell it as "color."

Colour.

There really is no debate over this.
It's like the French and the Belgians arguing over how they say 90.

Americans and English people live an ocean apart. There will be differences in linguistics. Shit happens :p

I read a lot of British literature, so I see it spelled "colour" a lot.. However, being American, I also see it spelled "color" most of the time. In fact, as I write this, Firefox is telling me that "colour" is a misspelling. I guess it could be either or, really. When you look at the greater scope of things, you have to ask yourself "Does it matter?"

It's colour, and color comes up on my spellcheck as wrong.

Also no, I won't "add it to dictionary", it's bad enough I have to use color when writing your poxy bbcode.

The reason it is spelled "color" instead of "colour" in the States is because in the early 1900's there was this movement to make English easier to understand and write. I forget all the details, but we basically took all of the U's out of any OU words and some other things before giving up altogether. I think Roosevelt was behind it, which is kind of ironic.

Edit: Found an article on it.

I've always spelled it color. But, I live here in the states, so that's probably why.
