Comic Book Movies are Ruining The Original Comics-RAGE-
Sarcasm isnt translated well over the good ol' interwebs so ill let you all know that this IS sarcasm.
My point/questions/rant(whichever you consider this thread) is people moan about comic book movies. I personally love all the comic book movies and have also read the comics of each ones (stolen from my brothers collections as a child). I think people problem is they just associate the movies with the coimic instead of on their own merits. X-Men triliogy/quadrilogy/saga seems to get the most flack for 'ruining' characters. In Conclusion if you dont like comic book movies dont watch them, and stop complaining about them. They're simply getting a good concept/story across to a larger percent of the population.

Anyway im rambling, Your Views?

I would vote that it depends on the director/writer usually you can tell ebfore you actually go to see the movie. Even when I know the film is going to be utter crap I always end up seeing it anyway. Curse my fanboyism at comic books.

I think it depends on more than the director. Mostly the script, but also the acting and other parts of the production. Usually, the production values are not going to be a problem. And the actors most likely won't. Remember, you can't act your way around/out of the script. The direction is probably also going to be okay. If anything would be the problem, it would be the script.

The XMen movies were just... Mediocre at best. As movies.
However, there are a lot of great movie films, which leads me to ask why this can't be done with video games?

A comic book movie is no more determined to be good for that attribute than any other movie on any other arbitrary attribute.

Some comic book movies are very, very good (For example, Spiderman 2). Others mediocre (For example, Fantastic Four and its sequel). Others downright bad (For example, Daredevil). It doesn't necessarily have to do with the quality of the comic, or the screenplay, or even the director. Some people will set out to hate something regardless of its eventual quality anyway.

Because of the diversity of the original medium and the quantity of films based on same produced, I feel the notion of a "comic book movie" has been totally made redundant. They are simply movies - superhero movies, crime movies, action movies, or a blend of two or more of same. You can't really umbrella them like that the way you used to as there are so many of varying qualities.

I voted "Can be good, depends on the director" but it depends on other things too. Like I said, they're just movies. Some faithful to the original work, some not so, and varying degrees in between. A lot of them aren't even clearly taken from a comic anyway, and, as I said, have just become "movies."

I have opinions on pretty much every specific comic book movie, both in and of themselves and as a representation of the original comic, but we're talking broadly here. And broadly, I believe that the umbrella "Comic Book Movie" hardly applies anymore as a means of quantifying whether a movie will be good or not, contrasting with "Video Game Movie" whereby nearly all of them are diabolically bad.

Possibilities. Possibilities abound.
