I am coming back to WoW for the summer and according to all my friends paladins are very overpopulated now, so iv decided to drop my beloved 80 completely and jump right into an alt. As I said i have not played in a LONG time, i bought the expansion, raided a bit, then quit for personal reasons. So my question is what does the fine people at The escapist forums think i should re-roll. As of now i do not know much about any class except paladins so what I am looking for is a class that is needed, yet not overpopulated, and why you would suggest that class, comparing to BC would be ok because I raided BC a lot so i know everything about every class from that expansion. Any race/faction would be ok because as I said I am starting completely anew.

This is Aimed at all the wow players out there.

Thanks in advance!

Mage, Priest, Rouge and Warrior are all very specialised, and therefore useful, classes.
Hunters and Warlocks provide a different style of play.

Also, let one of your friends re-introduce you (Or someone on these forums, or.. well... anyone, really.) and they get 30 free days of play!

Okay first off...

1) All classes are "Needed." The days of stacking Shaman Healers are over.

2) Dumping the supposed only class you know how to play just because it's suppsoedly overpopulated is a bad idea. Better the enemy you know than the enemy you don't.

But I digress, If you want to get groups fast, anything that can heal or tank as one of it's trees. But if you're a DPSer at heart and don't give a flip, then I'd go with Hunters as they are very quick levelers and with practically no downime.

thanks for the advice so far but Death Knight is also out of the question because it is just as overpopulated as paladins and I am trying to get away from being a piece of hay in a haystack

Go with a hybrid. Druids are near unstoppable as resto in pvp, and they work well as any spec. With dual spec, you will be in high demand.

Druid.

If you Dual spec as Balance/Resto you don't really need to switch equipment before getting to tiered loot, making traveling to instances a lot safer and saving a lot of inventory space compared to the extra feral set you'd have to carry around.(dual speccing tank/DPS feral still requires two different sets)

Warriors have been shit on since launch. I can't even play my warrior anymore, I get raped by every enemy class imaginable.

Duh. PvP in WoW is retarded.

Whatever you enjoy,However the bigger issue for you is the community is about as bad as can be.
I hope you have some friends wherever you plan to roll whatever on because the average "pug" group is worse then you remember it.Trade chat has the maturity level of a 14 year old as well.

Who cares if classes are overpopulated? Play what you find fun. Sure, there are a hell of a lot of DKs, but I never had more fun with any other class.

It's a game... play it to have fun... not to fill a role...

... That's why I'm quitting when ToR comes around...

Shaman ... ultimate win machine.
Just brought mine to 80, its a rogue in enhancement (it just dies less). Its a mage in elemental (again harder to kill. And resto, are amongst the best raid healers in wow.

For the record I have other 80s, and I just find this one or my feral/resto druid the most fun to play on.

Hunters and Warlocks are good if you plan on doing a lot of solo PvE. Pallys, Rogue and Death Knights own PvP (at least in my opinion)... Dunno about how Dual Spec has affected things, but any class that can heal/tank is generally sought after a lot more then dps'.

Warrior's have been one of the few constant success classes in the game, sorry. It's just Warrior's scale a lot better with gear than other classes, and it's always been that way.
Be successful with gear and you will be successful with PvP.

I meant in PvE. I'm consistently out-tanked by Paladins now, and I can't do shyeet for damage when compared to a Mage or a Rogue, so essentially, I'm worthless.

But I finally kicked the junk, so it doesn't really matter anymore.

No. DPS sucks alot more now, So if you can play semi-competently you'll be in demand no matter what

I don't play WoW anymore either, but warriors have been the best tanking class for a long time, not sure about recently, but warriors definitely haven't had it hard in the past.

I found that my DK got really boring to play with once I reached 80. Good for PvE, not so good for raiding, PvP, dungeons, imo

ToR?
The Old Republic. BioWare's Star Wars MMO.

EDIT: Come to think of it, why didn't I capitalize the "O" for "Old"? Hmm... :p
