Should we have a special sub forum for gaming controversy ?
Like we have for religion and politics.
It's not that I want to press the controversial topics out completely but there is so much complaining in these threads about them being posted at all that it's not helping the discussion and is just plain counter productive to the discussion.
It feels so reminiscent of the religion politics problem we had before there was a separate sub forum for those topics.
So what do we think ?

I'm of the opinion that "Gaming Discussion" should be split in two.
"Discussion about games" and "Gaming Industry Discussion".

The most controversial topics in that subforum, are all about the gaming industry (companies, trends, sexism in the industry, etc).

Some people just wanna talk about video games, ya know?

Part of me thinks it's a silly idea for some reason.
Another part of me is tired of seeing that same Anita Sarkeesian thread appearing time and time again.
I'll say 'yes' because it sounds nice hypothetically.

The problem with creating more and more sub-forums is eventually you'll thin the crowd out too much. Threads that would get notice in the general gaming discussion might get forgotten about if it's moved to its own specific sub-forum.

I feel that Gaming Controversy could be moved to R&P (In theory), since it might fall more under politics than gaming.

Either way, I don't think it's a good idea to create more sub-forums.

I think this came up last year, that we should move all the feminism threads to R&P. And the staff decided to keep things the way they are.

I don't think it needs to be moved. That's like ignoring the issue by shoving it somewhere else

Damn, I thought this would be a thread about the TV series, Community. I am now disappointed.

OT: It's a little unnecessary, isn't it? I can see how it could be a legitimate distinction, but there's no particular need to split the forums as they are.

You know how 4chan has /mlp? I think we need a similar thing. Just call it /feminism or whatever instead.

I voted yes more so because I'm tired of seeing so many threads about one topic. I do understand that it would be a bit pointless considering they are still gaming conversations, even if everyone starts to go on angry tangents.

No, I don't think that it would be a good idea. Neither topic would have enough content on their own to make me visit them regularly.

Honestly, no. If you're irritated by a thread, the easiest solution is to not click on it.

Frankly some of the sub forums that already exist are seriously under-used.

Personally I'd love there to be a console and PC only sub thread since I get either pretty tired or irked by seeing console threads invaded by drones of PC only people throwing a console thread into a hate filled shit fest because they want their opinion to be the only ruling option.
