It's a game. 3D models, numbers, etc. Yeah some of the women in games are attractive, but if I wanted wanking material I'd look at real women.

Nonetheless, I buy a game if it's good, not just of the chest physics of the females.
Those games get awkward when the friends come over.
I have some friends who don't play a ton of video games, and I'm a little worried about introducing them to Mortal Kombat. "So, tag-team. I'll take the stripper with the massive rack and the other stripper with the massive rack. What characters does your wife want to use?"

It never factors in. The only thing that sways me to a game without prior knowledge of it is characters I like being in it.

:3 I got Soul Calibur 4 for Darth Vader only.

Very rarely, if ever. Even when it turns into an unexpected bonus, it's usually just a bonus added to my enjoyment of art style.

It's even rare with the erotic games I buy. Even there, I just find story considerations to be far more worth my time.

Once I bought Bayonetta mostly because of its sex appeal, and it turned out to be a legit game with interesting characters. So, color me surprised.

I'm also an avid consumer of pornographic video games, so I suppose that sex appeal factors into my purchasing decisions quite often.

How about video games that are also porn?

LoL,

9 pages of "what the hell does sex appeal have anything to do with what games I purchase."

With so many pages I can tell the escapist is running out of interesting things about gaming to talk about...lol

Not very often. Most games I either buy on a whim or I know I'm going to buy well before release. But then there was Heavenly Sword...

Only Dead or Alive Beach volleyball. The first one is a decent game to its credit. The second one definitely not

Normally though sex appeal doesnt really factor in to the games I buy much I cant think of a recent purchase where that has come in to account

Why is there not a never option?

I mean I will choose a character in a game, or other trivial details because of sex appeal, but I will never put money down on a game because of sex appeal.

I won't lie, I've bought some games because of their sex appeal (i.e. Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur). I would be lying if I said "I just play it for the combos." With that said, the truth is that I don't factor sex appeal very often.

So Escapists, it's your turn to confess.
Only on two occasions has sexy advertising/box art swayed me, and i'm not even sure why as i'm usually a fairly rational person.

Anyway these are the culprits:

Battlecruiser 3000AD, awful game which was very buggy and under developed. pretty shameless ad...

And Divine Divinity which is actually one of the best RPGs i've played, and certainly the best hack n'slash style RPG.

Quite a lot. Good games I judge purely on actual merits. But if it's a bad game, but the characters are sexy, well:

It's a great manual picture, that's for sure.

Can't forget Rumble Roses, either. I'd post a screenshot, but I have a feeling I'd get a probation for it.

"Pretty packaging" goes a long way to getting me to at least look at the game in question. I know what I like to play though, so it won't often sell me on a game by itself, but it does help.

Since I'm sort of Bi...ish...not really?

Yeah, sure, its always nice to have some 'amazing landscapes over the beautiful tracts of land', but I can take it or leave it. As long as the game is good, I don't give a crap.

Never.

Not interested in buying a game for sexual content. If it fits the story and it's in there, that's fine, whatever. I don't object to it.

But it's never a drawcard.

It has, and it hasn't. Unfortunately, I prefer different body types than the typical western hourglass figure, so it doesn't enter in very often. Most games I end up getting because of the strength of the game. But yes, occassionally, sex appeal will affect my decision.

(Still, sex appeal can't hold up a game by itself. I still would like to have fun playing the game.)
