Keyboard/Mouse gives you much greater control over the game.

Why would you want to sacrifice that?

I don't use a controller when gaming on the PC, mainly because I don't have and not intending on buying one anytime soon. And I don't have a console to get the hang of playing with one.

I prefer the Xbox360 style controller I have for games like Prince of Persia.

It can be a real PITA to get them working though.

Depends on the game. When I played through Silent Hill 2 on the PC I used a USB PS controller because of the port, but for the most part a keyboard and mouse suffice.

Its just you. I've used the keyboard WASD for many hours on end and never got a cramp in my hand. Ever. Also... "it's guns being shot with mouse precision that isn't right."

... What? So your saying that the mouse precision is to good compared to the console controls that it's bad? And not the other way around? Thats a laugh.
I didn't say good, I said it isn't right. A gun cannot be fired that accurately.
Incorrect. I can fire an M-16 much more accurately than I can your typical assault rifle in a FPS these days. Now back when games had perfectly accurate guns, then I would almost agree with you, though it wasn't a problem with the mouse so much as a limitation of the game.

The main difference between firing a gun in real life and firing one in a game is that in the sort of combat situations that games throw you in, most people would be scared shitless and that would screw with your accuracy. Again, that has nothing to do with the mouse.

I do use a gamepad when it's called for. It pisses me off to no end though.
While the game may be a console port (and it undoubtedly is) I'm playing it on my PC. If you're gonna put it on a PC give the fecking thing PC controls, it can only make the game better.

It doesn't seem to be worth mentioning, they're both such blatantly obvious truths; but criticizing anything Wii-related for being gimmicky about motion sensitivity, or discussing the merits of control in keyboard/mous (infinitely superior) versus controller (very neat, but not nearly as great), seem like old and ended arguments. Yeah, people will babble on and on about it until the end of time, but my book is shut and shelved.

No thanks, I love my keyboard + mouse. The mouse works fast and precise, and depending on the game your playing, you can always (re)assign functions to various keys and buttons to make more intuitive for yourself.

Being a console gamer most of my life, I get absolutely no feel from a keyboard. No vibrations, no analog sticks, no triggers, and it doesn't mould into your hand (something that the 360 perfected).

When I get my new computer, a controller will be one of the first accessories I'll be getting for it.

For the vast majority of PC games the keyboard and mouse is clearly the superior option. However as of late there have been an increasing number of titles that have been ported to PC but havn't had the control system optimised for it (GRID, Dead Space, Resi 4, GTAIV, SR2....).

All of these games and many others just don't really work well on a K&M setup. So I have a wireless 360 pad to use for them. I don't even own a modern console. I don't see any issue with this, the PC is a modular system anyway, I have a joystick for flight sims and no-one would bat an eylid at that.

A PC allows me to use the best suited controll system for any particular title, yet another reason I preffer them to consoles.
