Poll: Controllers

What sort of controller do you use? Do you use the standard Microsoft or Sony controller, or do you prefer an after-market one? And why do you use what you use?

And for the sake of a poll, how many controllers have you gone through? I'm on my second standard Xbox 360 controller after my first one got a case of Call of Duty-itis (the left analogue points slightly upwards and wont return to the centre) so got relegated to my Player 2 controller before it got any worse.

Personally I don't see the need to buy an after-market controller with fancy features and extra buttons. And I can't justify the price.

EDIT: I forgot to bring this up: wired vs wireless. Any preference?

ANOTHER EDIT: I was mainly thinking about current gen consoles, rather than your overall controller death toll. And how many you've broken and/or replaced rather than how many you own.

I like the official controllers, they tend to be built better. 3rd party ones feel really cheap and plastic. Still have the 2 controllers I got with my 360, although they are a little worse for wear in terms of the analog sticks. May to need to buy a new one.
My Wiimotes and PS3 controllers are still fine.

On my current console, I have two. Mainly cause I needed one since my friends stopped wanting to bring theirs over to my house and had money from when i turned in a bunch of games to Gamestop.

But I use the ones that they make that are standard. though I've customized and modded both of them, and my PS3 to the point where it can hold 2000 GB and has backwards compatibility. Its just not legal any more I guess.

There was already a thread about PC mice so I figured we should have one for controllers too. I'm not a PC gamer - what's more likely to get busted? I presume your mouse.

you can probably actually get those readjusted. I know a guy in my town does that for around 7 bucks for both, and it makes them like new.

I'm not sure. I use pretty much every controller I have. I have three xbox controllers and 2 ps3s. I just use whatever has the most juice. I've bought a total of three but none of them are broken.

I never thought about that. So you just pick up whichever controller is laying around? I always use the same one.

maaaany since I have had SNES PSX PS2 GC and PS3 and all of these times two (at least) except the GC actually. also I have tried some PC controller through out the years... but only the PS2 and PS3 were good for pc games... since the XboX360 controller extremely sucks (I just really hate the D-PAD) also in my opinion the GC controller is one of te best one button more and I would use it for anything^^

All 3 of my 360 controllers work fine.

All 2 of my PS3 controllers work fine.

And I love the 360 controller so much.

And HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE...

The N64 controller.

I have a main controller for both 360 and PS3, and have some spares for my 360. All official ones, no third party ones.

Does this include past consoles or what? 3 PS2, 2 X360, 2 PS3. And some stuff for PC, but I guess they don't count?
And what about peripherals...? Think of the guitars and microphones!!!

Edit:
P.s. I've never broken any sort of controller, because I'm careful :p

Let's see... I had an SNES with one controller, then a N64 with four, then a Gamecube with three and two Wavebirds, then a Wii with four, then a 360 with three, then my roommate broke one of the 360 controllers so I got another one. And a mouse and keyboard if you count it.

TL;DR: A whole damn lot.

I maybe could have made this more clear. I'm thinking about current gen consoles - so PS3, 360 and Wii.

Yeah. I don't know how it happened. When I was little, I always had a specific controller that was "mine". Now that everything's wireless though, I figure I'll just grab whichever from their spot (underneath shelf of my coffee table).

Ohh cool :)
Then yeah, 2 for both my PS3 and 360, it's enough for me and a friend! And if I'm having more people round, I'll ask them to bring some along, good times...

I've got 4 PS3 controllers and 3 360 ones. One wired for my PC and two normal ones. All work perfectly. I also got 2 Wii ones that I guess work fine, but then I haven't really used them for years so I wouldn't know.

I like wired controllers personally. And looking at my youngest console, my Gamecube, I bought a madcat micro con because I just didn't like the triggers on the full size controllers. Still my favorite modern controller of all time. Still like the SNES controller better though XD

Well, I'm disqualified then.
