SOMEBODY isn't using their warranty, or extending it. You'd think you would considering your luck. That being said, the slims are supposed to be more resilient.

If you like PS3 so much than stick with it, why buy a new console just for one game unless your not satisfied?

I am amazed you have been through so many. Are you ventilating it correctly? Either way, whilst the older model was indeed plagued with a few issues, the newer motherboards have been very good to me, especially in the slim model. I vote you should get one more, not just for Reach, but because it's a great system.

Yeah, also, as people have said: Way to waste the 3-year warranty.

Reach is amazing IMO, but certainly not worth a 9[sup]th[/sup] console replacement. I've only ever had RROD once, and that was covered under warranty, but paying out of pocket 3 times for that would turn me off the Xbox for good, personally.

Well, I'm not satisfied and I did use my warranties

Same for me, one red ring then a free replacement. The warranty for red rings is 3 years I thought, so buying more than 3 shouldn't be necessary.

OP Try to treat it like it has some worth.

8?!? Ouch dude, what are you doing to them? I'm only on my 2nd, having bought my first on release day!

I'd say do it. Entry level 360s are only about 120 quid these days, but if you are gonna buy a new one you also maybe need to look at how you're gonna keep it from getting knocked/damaged (tv cabinet, shelf, whatever) because however you're keeping them at the minute clearly ain't working!

I think I agree with Jonluw. If you have gone through 8 360s then you are doing it wrong.

If you have the money, I'd say it could be worth it. I dunno.

But wow, 8 360s. Are you sure that it has nothing to do with how you treat them? I've had a 360 since launch, and it only redringed once. Microsoft then sent me a new xbox for free. No problems since.
I edited my post to state the condition in which I treat my consoles, which is pretty good from what I know.

While I'm a little skeptical of your claims, I will say that if what you say is indeed true, you just have some bad luck.
Most of the machines I've owned that made the number climb so quickly bricked within a month and I've used the warranties when possible.

EDIT: Just so everyone knows, I treat my electronics with the utmost care and never move them while playing or anything. I dust regularly and I store the consoles with plenty of breathing room. END EDIT
This might be indicative of a larger problem. A few years ago I lived in a hell hole apartment where the hot water heater broke down every few days for several weeks. The landlord said the fuses kept burning out. Later that month, when he got the electricity bill for the apartment, he came by to figure out what I was doing. He said, "You aren't using this much electricity...no one uses this much electricity." It was like what a family of four would use.

The point is that something was causing a shit ton of electricity to go through the apartment's wiring (this is what kept fnorking hot water tank). So maybe you want to check if anything weird is going on. It would seem like it would affect your other equipment too, but if you are not satisfied with the ps3 maybe you are using the 360s more and so they are feeling the effects.

I would think that could be an issue, but I've moved multiple times throughout my experience with this console.

I've heard of such things happening so I appreciate the sleuthing, but this just isn't the case for me ...

Sweet Jesus, do you game for like 16 hours in a row whilst your Xbox sits under a heat lamp?

Also this:

No reason to have had to bought 3, the warranties are extended for 3 years by microsoft.

Unless you bought the system from gypsies, treat it bad, or open it up, you should be fine.

But since you did one of those things, it's kinda your own fault. Sucks for you, I would never buy 3 of the same system. But I would never buy from gypsies, treat it bad, or open it up. It's common sense!
Anyway, there's no way you should buy another one. You should get one of your 9 fixed.

I say Reach isn't worth a solid 350 or so price tag.

On a side note, I can't believe that the X360 still has this stupid disk-chewing problem. It's not like this problem wasn't solved a decade ago.

Oh man you are unlucky. Only ever had one Xbox360, never been had a single problem with it. If your consoles keep dieing just stick with Nintendo, they make their stuff to withstand nuclear war.
