Where do you use realise? Spell check, my Webster's 2007 Dictionary, and even google (and various dictionary sites searched through it) corrects it to realize.

Britain, for one. Your Z's tend to be a lazy phonetic substitution for our confusing S's.

That's because they're probably all working in US English. In UK English, it's spelled with an 's'.

I tend to correct people unless it's a typo. I don't give a shit if this is the internet, speak (or type, I suppose) English properly or don't speak it at all.

I blame my upbringing for this attitude (my mum's an English teacher!) and obviously, I'm more forgiving to people who speak English as a second language.

Realize is the American spelling. England and Australia use realise.

the last time it happened to me that guy was an ass about it. I spelled "Politics" and added an extra "O" instead of an "I". Not a very big deal and the rest of the post was good.

but some dumbass decided that instead of replying to what I had to say made a rude remark at my one misspelling then proceeded to write in a manner (at least that is how I read it) that was very condescending to me.

People like that are total assholes and much worse then people who misspell consistently.

If I quote something and there is a misspelled word then I will correct it but wont do anything else. almost 9 times out of 10 its just a human error, and there is no need to be an asshole about it. Sure if people misspell on purpose then yeah call them out, but they never last long anyways.

Bring on the corrections in a polite manner, I am not to fussed about being corrected as long as it isn't in an aggressive.

Although if it's anything to do with "to", "there" or "were, I cannot remember it, don't ask me why.

To me there all the same, if I use the wrong context does it make the whole sentence totally unreadable? No, so I see no problem really.

Yeah, I am pants on head retarded, what of it.

As for facts, I like to learn new things but if I came out with some really bizarre fact or shoot down a fact you think is right and nobody else knows then don't be surprised.

I am not saying I know everything but I watch QI way to much and read alot of bizarre facts.

Ah the hubris of the human. I know what you mean, I see spelling mistakes and refrain from commenting on them so I don't anger whoever made the mistake. If only people could be more humble and willing to accept that they can learn from their mistakes, be it spelling, grammar or general ignorance. The more you accept that you don't know all the more you will actually learn.

don't correct people unless they say stuff like "dis and wht u ben to" that is fine but if its stuff like full stops. then don't bother it is just annoying.

I take it in stride. A lot of times I'll say, "thank you" But I'll sometimes say, "Hey grammer nazi you do know that it's better to discuss the topic than to correct peoples' mistakes that have no bearing on the issue"

I think that grammar/spelling/etc. is the best way to have people take your point seriously. If your post doesn't read well, why should I care what you have to say? You obviously don't care because you spent no time making it legible.
