I don't cosplay myself, generally because most of the times I've been at conventions it's been as an exhibitor. I've seen some very good ones, though.

My wife and I do DragonCon in Atlanta. We have gone every year for the past 4 years. It is a blast. We don't dress up ourselves, but we always dedicate about 5 hours to people watching and taking pictures of the costumes. Some of the best we have seen.

A group went as the characters from RE4, and they looked perfect. They had Leon, Ashley, Ada, and the Chainsaw village women.

The best single outfit we have ever seen was a girl dressed as Gabriel from Constantine. You know, when she had the wings and the medical bracelets all up and down her arms. Her wings would actually move depending on her stance, very impressive.

My group of friends in the area get really serious about Halloween costumes and my wife and I thought about wearing some of ours to the Con. I made a perfect Two-Face from Batman the animated series.

I don't go to conventions but there's a tradition called "Penkkarit" in Finland that third year upper secondary school students disturb other classes, go to drive around the town in trucks, throw candy to other students and are usually dressed in some costume. I'm just starting my third year and I'll definitely participate.
I'm going to dress as a ninja!

My wife and I went to DragonCon until maybe twelve or fifteen years ago. We went to watch the costume contest one year, and there were some very intricate costumes, mostly D&D, Star Wars, and Star Trek. There was also one fairly lush young lady whose costume consisted of a tiny black bikini, black high heels, and a black plastic headband with devil's horns.

Guess who won?

I don't really go to conventions but I am working on a pretty nice Rorschach costume. It's much easier to pull off than I thought it'd be at first, just go buy some nice clothes and a white mask, then just throw in a bit of hastily applied ink and it's done.

i've seen a bunch of good ones, both professionally done and hobby, can't think of many that stand out tho

funniest one i saw at a convention was a person dressed as a box of soap

creepiest was a venom suit spiderman, good costume but i'm not sure he was wearing underwear or a cup and it was a bit tight :|

Never had the energy to try anything of the sort.

If I did try though, there'd also be a bit of a hurdle in my complete lack of artistic talent.

Always nice to see a well done costume though.

I expected she would win. As soon as I laid eyes on her.

Actually, they're both wrong. You need to tone down the apature of the lens. It was letting in too much light.

More serious note: Is that you in both shots Doki or just a bunch of pictures you found on the net?

Now I've seen Star Wars like 8 billion times and I'm not completely convinced that storm trooper armor is standard issue.

Recently attending the Vancouver Art Gallery's show KRAZY! (Google it, and Will Wright, you need to practice your exhibit curating a little bit, the video game section was not up to snuff...)

The cosplay section was profound however, pointing out the sad reality of the fact that these fantastic costumed figures (and in all honesty there is some impressive costuming to be seen from time to time in cosplay) are always set against the most banal of settings (sorry folks, conventions are the societal pinnacle of banality)

It was a wonderfully tragic commentary on people who either can not or will not weave into the world as it is and as such are condemned to a world that, to put it artistically, is not.

The only reason I ever dress up in a costume is to get some freaky fan-girl tail, which might sound odd, but guys... trust me.

Haven't ever been to conventions, but i could imagine myself doing cosplay, if I do go to one someday. Although it would have to be a really nicely made suit/costume. No soap boxes for me... ^^

If I had the money, i would buy materials for a really kick ass costume.
I don't want to do a half done attempt at a costume, so I haven't actually cosplayed yet. The closest I've been is wearing my Renfest outfit.
