I whole-heartedly implore you to watch these and be educated
Pass any knowledge you gleam from them on to other people
And help in the furtherment of gaming society :D:D

Also: Do you think these will have any effect on the policies held by these kind businesses?
Would you like their policies to change?
Do you think GameStop are unfairly represented here?

I would like to think that they will change as it seems like they're dealing out ear-bonings like nobody's business :D

P.s. A salute to the lovely man who made these
P.P.s. This was the only place i could find the videos at a decent resolution

I think I've got 2 video games at gamestop over the last 10 years. With Wal-Mart, Best Buy, GameFly, Circuit City (if they stay around), K-Mart, online retailers, and many other retailers around the country, GameStop will fail, soon enough

I talked to a manager at Gamestop... and he said the videos were mostly bullshit. Every store has their own problems, according to him, and no store matched this guy's story exactly.

Personally, I'm more inclined to believe the guy who made the videos. A corporate tool is always a corporate tool... especially if the tool is a manager.

Why does stopping Gamestop help the gaming community again?

I know they don't give money to developers for used game sales but that's because they bought those games from someone other than the developer.

When a store buys something from the manufacturer they pay them, then the items are theirs to do with as they want. they sell them to the customers to make a profit, the only difference is that Gamestop will buy the product again from a person who bought the game.

If you buy a Frisbee from a friend should you have to pay the Frisbee manufacturer for making the Frisbee? No, and its idiotic to expect that.

I understand why people don't exactly like the business practices of Gamestop but they are fair business practices so just deal with it.

EDIT: I should point out that those videos are fairly old and have been removed from YouTube due to copyright infringement, so if that's any indication, no these videos will not bring down Gamestop.

These are old news, and have been taken down once before for copywrite infringement... BY the Escapist. Smashing job, yo.

A big meh. I was outraged when I first watched it, but i've had a few awesome Gamestop experiances. Frankly, I think they're a necessary evil like most big corporations. They havn't reached EA or Satan Incorporated level yet.

there's already an extensive thread about this.... the highlighted text is WRONG; the escapist has already stated that they had nothing to do w/ it being removed from youtube. no one knows right now why it was taken down except youtube...

i don't really know why people are making such a big deal of these videos - anyone who knows dick about retail knows that gamestop's tactics aren't any more evil than any other retailers'... sure, you can find cheaper prices if you shop around, but that doesn't make them the devil...

this guy is just a disgruntled former employee with an axe to gind and an unhealthy admiration of Yahtzee...

The only thing I ever really buy at Gamestop is old used games I can't find anywhere else near me. And my Special edition games. Can't usually get those at Wal-Mart or something.

First off, these links are incredibly old. This recent thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.79258] is several months late to the party.

Second, these links don't need to bring the GameStop Goliath down. Internet sales migration is already doing that quite effectively. Brick and Mortar stores are suffering an extreme impact on their sales thanks to the widespread proliferation of the Internet, with only a few stray sentiments (e.g. "I want to touch what I buy" or "I want instant gratification and can't wait for the mail") holding them up.
