Poll: Creating a "Let's Play" forum section

Greetings fellow Escapees.

My suggestion is simple: I think it would be nice if we had a forum dedicated to people posting their "Let's Plays". If you don't know what this is, it's where people via text or video share their experience of playing through a game.

The obvious question on your mind is "Why would we need a separate forum just for this?" and I have a few reasons.

For one, it can be difficult to find a play-through you liked the following day if you forgot to bookmark it. You then have to search all of gaming discussion history and find it on page 5. With unrelated content, people could more easily re-find play-throughs they previously enjoyed.

The second would be to remove clutter from the general Gaming Discussion forum. LP's are getting more and more popular each day and I notice more threads either asking about them, advertising their play-throughs or hosting text-based play-throughs popping up every day. For people who don't want to watch them, it can be aggravating to see so many. On the flipside, for people who DO want to see them it can be aggravating to find out you missed one posted a week ago because you didn't logon in time to catch it while it was on the first page.

I'm for it. It would make it a lot easier to create/ view Let's Plays.

I agree. I'm thinking of starting one, so this may be a nice place to put it.

might work as instead of a forum make it a new show, where any escapist can present a 'lets play' video and the escapist itself puts it up on the list next to ZP and Escape to the movies and all that.
Would be a plus for the escapist themselves as its basicly free content for them and i'm sure front page coverage would inspire more people to submit their 'work'.

Cool idea but the staff is never really up for adding forums. You could post it in forum games however; that's what one of my friends did here once.

Let's Plays have, in the past, been allowed in the User Review section. I see no reason they can't continue to go there. For example, lacktheknack has quite the successful <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.258867-Lets-Play-The-Elder-Scrolls-II-Daggerfall-Round-Eighteen>Let's Play in there.

There won't be the demand in order to have an entire section dedicated to them. Post them in the User Review section if you want, and they'll get plenty of time to be seen.

I have no idea, as I haven't really checked over specific rules of any other forum apart from User Reviews. (I only have power there.)

I would think that keeping them just in one place would be best, and if you see any, I'll see if I can get them moved to User Reviews. Eventually, people should notice that it has them, and then they'll know to put them there. I'll get a note added to the Review Forum Rules in the next couple of days and say that Let's Plays should be put in that section.

No problem.

It's now done, so now, at the very least, there is a <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.284840-User-Reviews-Forum-Rules>part of this site that says where to put Let's Plays.
