Yeah I'd plug it in right next to the Positron UGI port and hook it up to a Flux overdrive system and then...

You know what. This is why I stick to consoles.

What resolution do you use, what games do you play, and what are the rest of your system specs?

Its overkill at this point if you ask me, but if you choose to do it make sure you have a powerful enough PSU.

Do you have an appropriate power supply for it? Is your case big enough? Do you have proper cooling?

Duel 4870's are a great idea if you got the appropriate build for it.

P.S. You'll probably find all you need to know if you go to the PC Hardware Thread

If you have the money to buy them and have a rig that can handle the heat, you may as well.

uhh.. computer specs:

Biostar motherboard, Phenom 3.0 GHz Quad core processor, not sure on the power supply but i'll probably get a new one. my current one is crap, i know that. and 3.25 GB RAM.

I don't have too many graphics heavy games right now but i'm plannin on getting AC2, L4D2, BS2, and MW2.

My most graphic intensive game right now is probably the sims 3.

Unless you play at a really ludicrous resolution(>1920x1200), a single 4870 or 4890 will do fine.

Honestly, I run Crysis at 1920x1200 at full settings with a single 4870 and it runs beautifully. I also have a slower, dual core processor but with more RAM. Like I said before, Crossfire with that card is overkill right now.

Yeah its a pretty standard FPS, I only mention it because it is a suitable benchmark. If you can run Crysis well, you can run anything well.

Yeah, I have dual 2900XT (the big angry 1gb ones), and given that their doesn't seem to be any games that I can play at 1920x1200 I'm gunna go with the popular "that's overkill" option.

can anyone reccomend a decent power supply as well?
For a single card: OCZ 600w [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341010]
For CrossFire: Corsair 850W [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006], depending on how power-hungry the rest of your system is.

Overkill.

Might not be true in your case, but I weep when I see people getting crossfire with their processors being the bottleneck.
