Go watch Toy Story 3, not only is crying acceptable, it's unavoidable.

I cried when I first saw this on New Years day. And it still makes me well up inside whenever I see it.

At home, you can cry as much as you want. In a public theater, just be quiet. At a touching point of the movie it's fine to have tears running down your face, it's not fine to be bawling. That's just disruptive.

Sorry guys, time to be a brainless, predictable, misogynist, tough guy douche. It IS NOT OK for guys to cry at movies, or even in general. Like the death of your wife, Birth of children, that's about all that's acceptable. Not cause I feel it somehow makes me manly, but because that's what my hard fighting, hard drinking, tatooed, ex Military dad taught me.

They're one of the only moments I cry. mostly when alone, but still, I allow myself a moment of weakness when the situation warrants. The Shawshank Redemption, Blade Runner and LotR Return of the King are a few examples.

It's ok to cry at movies, as long as you don't bawl like a baby. That just kills the mood for other people's crying.

Yeah! The end of that episode I was heart broken. For a thousand summers - I will wait for you...

Oh, and I also did in Up. Several times in up actually.

Tell me about it! I started crying three times in the first 11 minutes of the damn film! And again in the middle of it. And then a fifth time after the film when I thought about the introduction. GAWD! That was horrible.

yes of course its okay...I've not cried as I watch many in theatres(toy Story 3 got me) but when watching some at home Im not afraid to admit I let a tear fall. One chief example is Titanic just hearing My Heart Will Go On during that movie gets me.....And I agree quietly crying is one thing but openly bawling and blubbering like your 5 is another matter entirely

I sat next to a big, grizzly middle-aged man when I went to see Pixar's Up and he cried during the beginning of the movie. I thought that was just, I dunno, awesome as hell.

Anyone can cry if they feel like it, but I guess seeing men cry in the open is still a rare treat of sorts, so it is still slightly more fascinating and remarkable.

Not ashamed to admit, almost lost it when I watched Million Dollar Baby. A moving performance is a moving performance.

I'm kind of a dick about it though, so when I saw Armageddon with some friends and one of them, a young woman and her friend started sobbing, I couldn't stop picking on them about it

Bah, anyway: No one should cry at movies in my opinion. If you do, then you need to get back in touch with reality because there are plenty of things to cry about in the world that happen on a daily basis. See: Africa.

The three most acceptable movies for crying are Click, Wall-E and Hancock. You can cry at other movies, but you may get some funny looks if you burst into tears halfway through Die hard or Water boy
